RAID 0 failed after BIOS reset

Go to solution Solved by gigi1237,

Well I guess i'll just recreate a new array and format my drives to reinstall windows.

Luckily I recently reinstalled windows so I have a pseudo recent backup and didn't have time to get any new data on it. So I won't loose anything important.

So this morning after messing with bios setting I decided to reset them to default when i booted an error stating no bootable media found came up so i entered bios again and set the SATA controller to raid and tried to boot but when i entered RAID config (cntrl-I) it only showed one of the two disks being in the array the other one is marked as non RAID.

I tried booting into this live cd ( http://www.runtime.org/data-recovery-live-cd.htm ) to use RAID reconstructor but i coudnt mount the image because i had bitlocker encryption in windows. And now in the RAID config both disk are showing as non RAID.

What should I do? Thanks in advance.

Do a reset, and save. Then turn on raid, turn off fast boot, check you boot order in the bios then save and restart . Dont do anting and let me know what error you get or I might even boot into windows...

The error is: Reboot and select proper boot device or inset boot media in selcted Boot device and press a key.

The first two disks should be in raid 1.

What happens when you select recovery volume options?

There are no recovery options avilable i think its only for redundand RAIDS.

Looks like somehow the metadata for the raid on the drive has gone?

I have set-up raid, 100's of times & moved raid arrays with no problem, but not had much success in fixing this type of problem, on a old Gigabyte board after a bios update it bricked the raid much like yours...

now I don't know on your version the the Intel Controller but, you could try and start a new raid with same settings as before but when its says delete data or whatever the message is and just select no...*

What you may need to do is create a new array and do a data recovery on the array.

You may have problems getting data back if you create a new array though, its a tricky one to say whether the data on the drives is going to be recoverable.

I had a problem where the partitions on my array got deleted, and i was able to recover all the data it, i didn't have to create a new array though

I tried to create a new array but the problem to recover the data is that the drive was bitlocker encrypted (without TPM) so none of the data recovery utilities work.

If anyone could point me in the direction of a data recovery utility that supports bitlocker I would be grateful.
