980 vs 980ti vs Titan X

Hello! I'm planing to buy my new custom built PC.  I don't game much but I will probably start to, so I'm not sure which graphics card I should get.  I'm planning to get 3 1080p (60Hz) displays, as I will use them for productivity all the time.  I'm between getting a GTX 980, GTX 980Ti, or Titan X.  I want to know if any of them will not work with my displays or have any problems.

Thanks!!

How soon do you plan to do this build? Other new cards are just a few months out. If you won't be fully ready to build right away I would wait to choose a card to see what the new cards bring.

Even a GT730 can power three monitors. It just depends on what you're actually doing (gaming, rendering, mad scientist stuff etc.).

Well, right now I have an MSI with a 970M and its... you know... a laptop... so... I would like to build it within a month or so. I have heard about the new 1080, but its just a rumor and I don't know how much VRAM it'll have and if it's worth the first price they'll put on it.

Of course they don't REQUIRE one, but if you plan to do 3 monitor gaming the processing power and VRAM will help a lot. If you just want to power 3 displays with no games get a much lower end card.

I will be doing light to moderate gaming (Modern Warfare 3, BO 2, CS:GO, GTA V)

We won't know about the performance of the new cards for a few months. I would start buying your other parts that you have already decided on...ram, motherboard, case, fans, keyboard, etc etc....Save the video card as your last purchase. By then maybe there will be some tech reviews and more solid release information.

If you had to buy today I would second the vote on a solid 980ti as your best bet for price and performance.

Well I am in the UK and these can be had on ebay from a trusted seller or a related forum, like sometimes in overclocking or gaming forums you can see people selling hardware they no longer need/use.

980ti. The Titan X is stupid because most non-reference coolers can overclock to be perform higher than a Titan X which only has the reference cooler.

Most of those titles seem fairly medium in requirements except for GTA V, though that one does scale well on lower settings and doesn't get horrendous looking.

If you're like me though I'd also say the 980 Ti, I like to play my games to the fullest. Heck, I have a single 1080p screen and GTA V still drops a frame or two below VSync speeds sometimes, it's a demanding title on maximum quality.

I don't know about a Titan X though, it costs quite a bit more and in some scenarios it's not a single frame faster than the 980 Ti.

Main rig: Intel i7 6700K @ 4 Ghz with Silverstone Argon AR06 + Noctua NF-A9x14 PWM, Asus Z170I Pro Gaming, 2 x 8 GiB Corsair LPX Red @ 2.133 Mhz, MSI GTX 1080 Founders Edition, 2 x Samsung 850 Evo 500 GB, Corsair SF600, Silverstone Raven RVZ02 (no window version).

For on the road: MSI GE72 2QC Apache with 16 GiB RAM upgrade.

Or they just need money for other hobbies or bills.  Selling things for upgrades isn't the ONLY reason to sell something lol.
