Hey guys,

I'm pretty set on creating this build. Is it good? Any bottlenecks?
It will be used for gaming (specifically CS:GO, Rainbow Six: Siege and The Division) along with programming.

http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/AgentL3r/saved/mLnbt6

Thanks.

EDIT 1:

- Changed the SSD

- Changed the Graphics Card

- Changed the HDD

- Removed the cooler

EDIT 2:

- Changed the monitor

Thanks.

There is a bunch "wrong" with it.  Mostly, you are not spending the money well.

Why the 1440p 144Hz monitor?

Why the non-K CPU?  Why the AiO to cool the non-K CPU?  Why the Z-Series board?  Why not Skylake?

Why the crappy SSD?

Why the GTX 980?  Why the reference GTX 980?

I would swap the AiO liquid cooler for an air cooler, since it's paired with a locked i7. With the money, I would swap the SSD with a better one, and swap the GPU with a different one.

It's a little odd... the 4790k is faster even if you don't overclock, so not sure why you'd get the 4790.  Also, why a non-k chip on the Z motherboard?  Plus that cooler is overkill if you don't over clock.

Also that SSD is not the best.

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

Should go skylake, it's a tiny bit more and gives you USB 3.1

you're going to be better off going AMD/free-sync because for the same price as that G-sync display, you can get an IPS 144hz 1440p display, so better color/viewing angles at the same price, also a Fury is faster than a 980

don't buy kingston SSDs

I appreciate that.

I'm still sticking with a GTX 980 because I feel it's best for me.

Along with the cooler, should I just leave it out?

CS:GO build, so 144hz is kinda needed if you're going to be getting serious. The problems I see consist of: non-OCable CPU, poor SSD choice, and a 980 instead of a similarly-performing AMD card.

Also, AIO's are beautiful. Never question a man who has a water-cooled CPU.

So you have the 144Hz to gain an upper hand in CS:GO.  Why the 1440p?  A 144Hz 1080p is less than half price.  You retain your performance and save money.

I added the Dark Rock 3, which will be quiet and look good with the black aesthetic.
Also, the GTX 980 is outperformed by the Fury in.. All 3 of the games you listed. I would swap 'em if you aren't using nVidia features.

The SSD is too small and slow at that too. 120GB will give you space for your OS, some programs and a game or two and then you're pushing it. I guess you're buying the rest of the stuff for aesthetics only but even then your choices don't make too much sense. Your video card has the popular but inferior reference cooler because I guess you like the look of it, but then your case will mount it upside down and all you'll see is a black PCB just like some GT 8800...

The motherboard matches the case, fair enough, but then your CPU is not overclockable anyway so why get a Z-edition board? Are you planning to upgrade later? Why? The only upgrade path is the 4790K and that is not that much faster than a 4790. So the choice is redundant from the start.

Yeah, most of it is just for aesthetics.

So things that need improvement:

1) Swap the AIO cooler for an air cooler.

2) Swap the graphics card for an AMD Radeon.

3) Get an SSD with more storage.
