I currently have the Saitek Eclipse 3 and I like it a lot, but they don't make it anymore (At least I can't seem to find it anywhere). I need another keyboard to use for my server.

Requirements:

Membrane keyboard (Mechanical is too loud for me...my cousin had a K70 with a Blue switch keyboard and it was kind of annoying... unless there exists a quiet switch that I'm not aware of).

Must have full number pad. Dedicated volume control keys would be nice to have.

Blue backlighting.

Larger keys (My brother has the Logitech G19 and the keys are too close/small together for my tastes).

No external power needed to run the backlighting (USB powered).

Yeah, I haven't paid much to membrane switch keyboards (Since mechanical is all the rage) so I don't really know what's out there at the moment. I would say up to $100 for the budget...though if I can get it cheaper ($70ish), I wouldn't mind.

I don't use this keyboard for gaming at all. It's just all web browsing and coding, so no real need to have anti-ghosting.

Honestly I own this keyboard and it is really nice to type on and is much quieter then a mx cherry switch. Don't use the mouse though, it is horrific. It is one of the better membrane keyboards.

cherry blues are the most "annoying" switch you can name...

Cherry Red however is a silent one, try checking them out

edit: you can do the o-ring mod to make it even more silent

Well it's all personal preference, I own an mx blue keyboard it's pretty good, although I really want to switch to mx browns.

Mx reds/blacks don't have that nice tactile feedback.

I would check out browns and reds, if going the mechanical route.

You'll thank the person that lets you use a mechanical keyboard. They don't have to be loud in any way. Try a Brown switch keyboard, or Reds which are even quieter.

Either this (for peasant membrane): Really anything. Here's two with backlighting:

For mechanical (brown switch, only white backlight):

Yeah, I like the feel of mechanical for sure, but I wasn't willing to give up silent for it. I might have to check out the Reds then. Though...are there any red switch keyboards with blue backlighting? I don't really need tactile feedback either.

The clack of the blues is fun for trolling because my cousin's keyboard...the whole time we were upgrading his PC, we were doing nothing but screwing around making clack noises with the keys.

Hmm, I'll look into the Logitech. I'm kind of worried it might be smaller keyed like my brother's G19...that and every Logitech thing we've owned so far hasn't lived much longer than a year (RIP G5).

Though I don't mind increasing the budget if we're going to go for mechanical (brown / red?). I just want something that is quiet and has larger keys / fair amount of space between the keys.

I prefer mechanical over membrane, however if you want a membrane keyboard I would get the CM Storm Devastator.

theres a butt ton of cherry mx red keyboard out there, if you're lazy to find for blue backlighting, just get an RGB one lol

If you up the budget a bit, there's lots of options with MX Red keyswitches. Reds are the quietest, next to the Corsair-exclusive Silent switches.

Hmm, well, I guess I would say up to $160ish? Yeah, I usually  keep up with main component news so I don't usually read much on peripherals so I'm not too sure what's out there.

I guess it's time to start hunting for some. Though no idea Corsair had exclusive silent switches.

So after looking some, the Corsair Strafe RGB keyboard with MX silent switches (or Red) is what I should consider? It's just a shame I can't seem to find the silent switch version somewhere other than Corsair's website ($159.99) vs ($109.99 on amazon for the reds)

Like myself I do not like the noise mechanical keyboards make, however I have found that the Sades Blade keyboard is a great keyboard for the price, it has a metal base and they also use replaceable key-caps too. it has 7 different back-light colors too. Better still it do not cost a arm or a leg for great build quality.

Reds are very similar to silent ones. The Strafe non-RGB only comes in red back lighting, but it's also much cheaper. If you aren't gonna pay the premium for the "silent" switches, there's also different options for cheaper MX Red keyboards. As in around $100 MX Red keyboards, like the Strafe.
