Pentium 4 ornament/necklace ideas?

Greetings.

I just unearthed an old, dead Pentium 4 CPU from a rig that was built in 2001. Inspired partly by @byalexandr's post about his Athlon, I thought it might make a cool ornament- perhaps a necklace of some sort. The only problem is that it's not the LGA 775 variant, but the PGA 478 variant of the CPU, which means it's full of pins.

Do you have any ideas as to how I should mount it, or alternatives to wearing it around my neck? I was considering using a piece of fake leather and sticking the pins through it, or using bits of plastic to make an enclosure for it.

Cheers,
Aereldor.

your best bet for that is to just drop them in the socket where they belong and just pray it posts.

Or stick the pin into the corresponding hole.

My mistake. I thought you meant simply sticking the CPU back in the socket and hoping for the best, forgoing the broken pin entirely.

I like to kill hardware. In 2016 alone I have killed 20 Xeon 5160, and 10+ Pentium 4.

If you don't want to dremel&sand the pins as someone said somewhere just use a soldering iron... really, they come off very easy I tried once to resolder fallen pins...

I just read this. Up until this point, I was just bending them until they broke and sanding them down very carefully. Thanks for the tip, albeit I'm a neophyte when it comes to soldering equipment.

There is a store that seals core2duo's for $1, I was thinking of doing the same thing. And they sell 80gb hard drives for 3 bucks and I would use the magnets for a necklace mount or use the magnets to hold the CPU behind my shirt and turn it into a badge

I made a tutorial on how exactly to do this!

Cheers. It would be helpful if you could provide a link, rather than simply making a reference.

Cheers. I don't have a drill press and my concrete and wood drill bits didn't do too well with the steel IHS. However, I didn't really want to wear the CPU itself, and contented myself by threading a narrow steel chain through the hole on the IHS and keeping that instead.

Oh okay, I am also selling them on the classifieds if you are interested.

I think i am allowed to post links for classifieds in the main forum.

I appreciate the offer, but I think one CPU/Integrated heat spreader necklace is more than enough for me- especially since I'm not the kind who typically wears necklaces.

Okay, hit me up if you are interested. I am also making a crown out of them, I have 55 coming in the mail.
