This is basically my problem:  On startup the pc goes on, cpu and case fans go on, graphics card Logo goes on fancy case LEDs aswell. they al stay on and function

Then my Asus z170 a mobo cycles through the debug LEDs (not an actual screen but 4 separate LEDs):

1. CPU LED goes red, then after 1 sec switches off (CPU is gud)
2. DRAM LED goes red, then after 1 sec switches off (DRam is gud)
3. VGA LES goes red, then after 1 sec switches off (GPU is gud)
4. BOOT DEVICE LED goes on and stays on

PC does not post anything on my display connected through hdmi on the mobo

if we can fix this i will send you a steam giftcard!

The RAM that i have isnt listed as supported. but then the ram_led should light up or not? Or could that be the problem? its already the second board that doesnt work. and if the cpu would be faulty the cpuLed would light up. pls help

Like Moonzy said I would try other ram if you have it, but also I did a quick google search and found this online (I know it is from 2011 but seems relevant) someone with similar issue: https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?5758-Boot-Device-LED-red-no-POST  they resolved by doing this " Issue resolved. Flash, removed all power and removed CMOS battery for an hour. Started up nice and good. "

Yep, try some RAM that's explicitely listed. After that I would switch out the boot device.

yes but if the ram would be the problem then why doesn't the the ram_led light up and the boot_device_led. And i should get into bios even withouth any boot device/ssd, hdd.

im not sure, but no harm trying amirite?

the previous guy's case:

- using crucial ballistix sport ram (2x4gb or 2x8gb i forgot)

- can post with one ram, at the 2nd slot with both sticks individually

- cant post with both ram plugged in 2nd and 4th slot

- both ram can work on other motherboard (not sure x99 or z170 or w/e)

- tested with hyper x fury black rams and it was fine even with 2 sticks

conclusion:

- that guy went to get refund for his ram and purchased hyper x fury

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately
