How much RAM do I need?

Hey guys

 

So im looking to buy a new laptop, and I've decided to settle for the new Dell XPS 15 laptop. But I need to decide which specs to go for. I really want a 4k screen, i7 processor and a GTX 960m GPU. But this is where my question is. Im not sure how much RAM I need. Is it really worth it, to upgrade from 8gb to 16gb RAM? Is there a big diffrence? I will mostly need the laptop, for school, gaming and photoshop. thanks

If you are planning to do heavier gaming, and do a ton of multitasking, I'd step up to 16, but at 8, I think you'd be fine.

For productivity the more ram the better in general, so go for 16gb if you can afford it

There wont be any difference if you dont use more than 8 gigs.

Personally, I wouldn't. Unless you want to run games, photoshop AND school stuff at once then maybe.

I have 16Gb of ram

8 is fine for gaming unless you have spent 2 Grand on your pc

16 is good if you are a person who likes to have 20 tabs open

Get an ssd before you get 16gb of ram you will see a very large speed differance.

I'd get the 16 GB.  It will be more than necessary now, but when you need it later you'll already have it with no hassle or added expense.
