PLEASE! Help with speed throughput to modem!

GamersCouch
Go to solution Solved by GamersCouch,

Fixed!

Restarted from scratch...

set router to factory default... again...

reset modem, restarted router, configured router WITH THE EXACT SAME SETTINGS!

when it comes to networking, I think i'm pretty savvy... but this has dragged on for too long!

From PC to Modem = ~310Mb/s down, ~32Mb/s up

PC to Router to Modem = ~252Mb/s down, ~23Mb/s up

I don't know what's bottlenecking it so much.

I have an Arris SB6190 modem

an ASUS AC3200 router

everything connected with CAT6 cables

QoS is set to Adaptive

upload and download bandwidth is set to unlimited

Tested my LAN speed.

~700Mb/s down, ~450Mb/s up

Any suggestions?

On a LAN download and upload speeds should be the same (if not tested involving WAN)

Is the router thermally throttling? My network switch used to overheat before I modded it to have a fan, I got 100 times the LAN speeds off of it after I added the fan. Not even joking.

I don't think so. The router sits on my desk and it's cool to the touch.

Alright, mine runs stupidly hot so I don't think it is a throttling issue. Networking is weird.

Tell me about it... I've been at this since yesterday afternoon...

I only get 60mbit/s speeds from my ISP so it has not been an issue for me, my router leads into my (now gigabit) network switch and that handles everything on the network.

Transfer rates via LAN isn't a problem for me... I'm just trying to maximize me speeds through WAN. It's almost 60Mb/s that's dropping!

I assume you have tried resetting your router?

Yes. Before I reset the router, I was getting 220Mb/s down...

At that rate, two more resets should bring you up to full speed xD

Seriously though, not sure whats going on here.

Anyone else using your network?

My router's a fat ass! Needs to go on a diet and lay of the megs.

Meanwhile I have an enterprise grade AP and network switch (albeit poorly designed ones, one of my two APs suffered a DRAM chip failure and the network switch thermally throttled) and then I have a crappy router. Good thing the only thing the router is doing is routing the internet from the modem.

More or less. My main PC which holds ~8TBs contains all my media which my hometheater streams from. I have two gigabit switches, and a few media streaming devices i.e. Shield console, fire tv,  which has access to all my media.
