i would be using for gaming, i want it to last for at least 3-4 years so the i7 is necessary as will be editing in the future,

 

i want a good gpu i have £300 for one and i want it last for a while so should i be waiting for the 9xxx or the gtx8xx, i dont mind buying the system without a gpu what do you think ?

Yeah that doesn't make too much sense. 

 

Wait for 9000 series and plan later.
