Hey everyone,

A friend asked me if I could recommend a PC for his company and particularly for AutoCAD and similar purposes. I decided that I want to buy something prebuilt from HP, Lenovo or Dell. The reason is that they all have warranty support in my country and if anything goes bad they can ship the entire thing and get it fixed. If I built it myself, I'd have to diagnose it, take it apart, get the part RMA'd etc.

So I found a PC and a monitor that suit my needs (or at least I think so). The PC (HP Envy 750-111ng) specs are:

  • Windows 10 (important to me because of our laws regarding software)

  • Intel Core™ i5-6400 - 4 cores 2.70GHz (3.30 turbo)

  • 12GB RAM

  • 128GB  SSD

  • 1TB HDD

  • NVIDIA GeForce GT 730 4GB

The monitor (HP Pavilion 24xw) is:

  • 61.0 cm (24"), 16:9

  • 1920 x 1080 Full HD, 8 ms, 250 cd/m²

  • LED IPS-Panel

  • VGA, HDMI

The only thing I'm worried about is the GPU since I don't have a lot of AutoCAD experience. I don't think they'll be doing too much 3D stuff, mostly landscaping business. Do you think this would be suitable for the purpose?

Yes, just yes.

If you want to do some gaming on it, consider replacing the GPU for something else.

(This is the Canadian website, consider searching for the American Dell site and looking for it there)
