Hi guys,

So my girlfriend's laptop has decided to die. She is in uni at the moment and needs something that is gonna be great for word prosessing, web browsing, watching videos, and also something with plenty of storage space. We live in australia, and she is looking for something that costs 400 aud or below. Any thoughts? I have some in mind, but i would love some help/recommendations.

Thanks in advance!

It died? You mean the HDD failed? If so just buy a cheap SSD and problem solved. No need to buy another laptop. Haha. What is the processor in the old laptop, I will tell you if it is worth "reviving" it or to actually get a new one. Also how much ram?

This seems like a good option. I don't really know much about the Australian market, so I can't comment much more other than we had something like that, and I convinced my dad to trade it in for a system with an i3 because the Celeron felt so slow... So she may want to consider saving for something a little more expensive.

Fine you want the PSU tier list? Have the PSU tier list: https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/1116640-psu-tier-list-40-rev-103/

for that price if she is not a gamer, maybe look into getting a tablet and a wireless keyboard. with a external hd or maybe even a 128gb or 64gb micro sd. hard to find even used  good laptops they are hit and miss and you dont want to get stuck with a bad one. but i hope you find one, good luck

To put it in simple terms, It's dead. The wifi no longer connects, the screen isn't attatched to the body on one side, and I have already done the new HDD and it hasn't helped the situation at all. I've done all that I could but I am very certain that the CPU is also dying. On a further note, the laptop you linked me to is pretty good. Thanks for the help :)
