New headset recommendations

Doesn't get the look of a "gaming" headset, but I love my Creative Fatal1ty headset. Had it for 3 years now and it's still working like a charm. The mic sounds awesome and the 40mm drivers give pretty good bass and treble. Also, I love the soft velvety feel on the ear cups, something you don't get with leather or perforated cushion like in the Logitech G series.

^I have actually dropped my headset plenty of times. Probably close to 30-40 over the past 3 years. I've rolled over the wires probably 5 times. It's still working.

I've been pleasantly happy with Logitech headsets. Astro aren't to bad if you want to dish out that kind of money. Seinheiser is always a good bet. Steelseries seem to be popular. Razer/Corsair headsets are made for people with tiny heads.

My X12s have lasted me over 2 years and are now just starting to go on the right side. For $40, they were pretty good. Didn't use as a mic though

Astro ? Really? How could you recommend them? From youtube to reviews, they bash them. They are cheap, and i would recommend Creative ones over a40s.

They actually have a surprisingly good build quality and are optimised for gaming on all platforms. The problems you've on youtube reviews were probably from their initial release where there were some driver issues, however these have all been fixed and mine work perfectly fine.

I have a TB PX5 and they work perfectly fine and are not currently broken , However the build quality isn't very good and neither is the audio quality (they are wireless this might be the problem) but I might much prefer my Astros.

Quality headphones in the same price range should last someone longer.

Hmm, how does that work? What makes gaming audio distinguishable from other audio?

OP, you have a budget in mind?

The whole "optimized for gaming" thing is a gimmick in my eyes.

I went ahead and ordered the Astros but I hope I don't regret it!

That was a decent amount of money you could of spent on a nice pair of headphones and decent mic, plus you would get multiple uses out of the headphones being that they are headphones :)

Please don't tell me you spent $200 or more on a "gaming headset"...

Well you can always return them if you do - from things I've read they're pretty much the same thing as any Tritton headset.

Well the main selling point was being able to connect my xbox and pc at the same time

Again as MayflowerElectronics mentioned, if you want the best sound then get headphones + modmic/desk mic.

The topic says specifically for Headsets and I understand that sometimes it's just more convenient for some to have headsets like myself, price to performance I'd recommend the SteelSeries Siberia V2. If those astros don't work out I'd recommend them as a replacement. Not sure how the Elite will perform but for $200 MSRP USD I don't think it'll be worth it.

Unless they're wireless, coulda been done cheaper with better headphones - saying this only for future thread readers' benefit.
