Stanford University has stated that because the PS3 was folding for as long as it was, they have come closer to solving Alzheimer's disease. When running folding@home, they also give the CPU tasks such as simulating what occurs when viruses infect cells.

So i was wondering all the effort of so many people, has there been any amazing discoveries from F@H.

the only reason i ask is because i saw a video and they said they know how 80000 proteins fold, has this actually benefited things such as cancers?

why would you want to benefit cancer!?

Id really like to know exactly what all has been learned from this project. Im fairly invested in it, and would likely keep folding even if little has been found, but it would be good to know.

Well, look no further than the paper/results page on F@H website.

http://folding.stanford.edu/home/papers

List every milestone in there researches dating back from the very beginning when F@H started.

List everything from protien folding/medical discoveries to improving systems that make F@H faster and more accurate.

There are 109 papers so far.

I had to semi-study a few academic psychology papers during college and I can assure you that 109 papers (whether they are medical or computer studies) using ONE specific data gathering technique (computer simulation) is unheard of. There is a reason why they have kept this project going for so long. Stanford would not invest this much money and effort into a system if it didn't give them a great return (not just money, but research help)

I get 60 frames at 1080p on a dual core APU. Ask me how.
