ASUS Radeon R9 Fury Strix Review

Today im taking a look at the ASUS Radeon R9 Fury Strix.

Before we start the mini review and conclusion of the product, i will start by mentioning that i do not provide pictures of the product due to bad photo equipment or lack of it. I do have had the product in hand myself, to give everyone my experience. Also, i will not provide complete and precise benchmarks in every single game.

So. In the box of the graphics card, the first thing you will see is a box with all your accesories. It comes with all the usual stuff like, a 2x6 pin to 8 pin adapter, a software disk, a speed setup guide book thingy and an ASUS Strix logo that you can stick onto your case if you want so. Also, the card doesnt come with a crossfire bridge as AMD uses the crossfire through the motherboard.

Going deeper into the box, you will find the graphics card itself. The card comes with the new ASUS Strix DC3 fan cooler design, which in my opinion looks very good. The card comes with a backplate, stylish, but a little bit boring in my opinion.

I loaded up the card and started playing. One thing that first came in mind was all the stuff that i've been told about AMD, "all AMD graphics cards has coilwhine". I can tell you guys right now, this graphics card has no coilwhine what so ever. Running Battlefield 4, ultra preset with no AA, the card did not make any noise from the coils, HOWEVER! The card is loud. Im just saying it, it is loud. Even though i tried to mix and match through the settings, i still could'nt find a spot where i felt that it was placed good, as soon as i adjusted it just a little bit down in fan speed, the card would reach 82C and thermal throttle.

So, conclusion time, right?

- Yes, the ASUS Fury Strix, is a good card for its money, no dout about that. But the noise from the 3 fans on the DC3 can be a negative thing for some people, including me. The graphics card might be a good choice for people who want a banging card for a good price, and im really happy that they solved the coilwhine, That made me a happy man.

All in all a good product, but a little too loud to my taste.

I hope you all liked this type of a review. Please let me know if you want more in-depth stuff onwards on other graphics cards reviews. THANKS!

The coil whine issue was with the first batch of Fury X's and their pumps, it is no longer an issue.

When people talk about the Fury X's coil whine they sometimes call it the Fury, creating the false assumption that the all Fury's have the issue, I've seen people make that assumption multiple times.

Fury cards are also known for having coil whine, but new versions from Sapphire and Asus have fixed that, supposedly

I can't find anything online in regards to the Fury's in general.

Jayztwocent´s Sapphire card had coil whine, Logan's (Tek Syndicate) card from Sapphire had the same problem and Hardwarecanucks' card from Asus also had coil whine

Could easily be a coincidence, three cards aren't enough to start a pattern.
