MSI 970 Gaming MOBO Problem

Hey guys!

So today ia came home to find these condensation spots on my MSI 970 Gaming mobo.

I'm not sure if this is due to the build of the mobo or the due to the fact that my house can be quite moist during the winter, so before I send the part back to its warranty I just wanted to check with you guys!

I thought I read somewhere else someone was having this issue, and it ended up being stuff from thermal pads off something.

I wouldn't worry about it unless your pc shuts off.

I agree with this, that doesn't look like water

could be silicon oil from the thermal pads under the VRM heatsink

@tiizbatata put your finder on it then rub it between your fingers, does it feel oily ?!

That could be a blown VRM/cap.

I would seriously investigate that further.

Does not look like condensation.

could be some mix with alcohol

water shouldn't dry out that quickly

@Alexokan if it is actually a blown cap, how should the computer react? should i be getting blue screens or sudden shut downs?

I believe it was @W-L that told me the thermal pads leak resin when they get hot. Same board, same problem

Small issue... I thought the MOBO cutout on the H440 was big enough to undo all 3 screws, turns out its not. i can only get the bottom screws, and I don't plan to take apart my computer anytime soon. Sorry

It can occur at times where the oil or substance inside the thermal pads leech out, if you want to get rid of it using some 99% isopropyl alcohol nd q-tips can clean it off.
