Miss my old pc...

This is what I had before my T5400. There's pictures below of the board mounted on my wall before and after getting a second CPU. The bigger heat sink is from a Dell Precision T5400. I didn't realize that on socket 771 the heat sink screws into the chassis so i found some 6-32 nuts that fit and are tightened on the back of the motherboard. The other heat sink is a Cooler Master Hyper 101a that is straight up zip tied through the motherboard. Ran this system like this for a good 3-4 months before I bought my T5400. It had 2x Xeon X5450s, 8gb ECC DDR2, GTX 750Ti and a bad ass 450w BFG power supply. Oh and a 500gb hard drive with 10k+ hours on it (12k+ now). Half the time it wouldn't post for unknown reasons. Sounded like a damn freight train going through my bedroom. (yes I actually slept next to this mess every night). The memory alone ran at 60C. Total invested was about $250.

Good times... Miss it sometimes...

I did something similar with a dual Opteron setup about a year ago. Dual QC 2356, 32GB ddr2 reg ecc, GTX460, 250GB ssd, and 750w psu. The GTX460 was questionable at best, but it worked ok until I decided to do something else and sold the parts off. Good times.
