I can't believe Crysis 1 came out almost a decade ago

orangecat

I just found my old Crysis 1 dvd and I totally forgot how long ago this game came out. I remember running this game on a AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ with an 8600GTS.

Oh well. It's also been 11+ years since the last doom and 21 since the first. And this year is the 20th anniversary of the first fully 3d game, quake.

I remember trying to run them all on a pentium 4 with no dgpu.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

sudo chmod -R 000 /*

And only recently have we been able to max out that game on single GPUs, and thus putting an end to " Can it run Crysis?"

I remember when I first got Crysis I had a single core CPU and 4GB of ram lol.

Oh wow... when it came out i was almost 12 :D
I was running a q6600 overclocked to 3,3 ghz i think and a 8800gt wich was permanently overheating. Killed 1 or 2 motherboards and 2 or so psus because i was buying cheap :D the load on the psu must've been so high one time when my buddy was destroying a gasstation and my jeep with c4 that my psu just died, little bang and a little smoke; lights out for my pc :D

I need to play it again.. took 3-4 times upgrading to max it out -.-

                                                                                      wow... pretty empty here...

the maldohd mod is what you need to try

A GTX 680 you mean?

I was pretty sure it took the original Titan to max out Crysis.

naah, not at 1080p at least. my r9 290 does it no problem at 70-80fps, a titan is supposed to be faster.

it really is one of the best if not the best mod if tried yet. its really optimized and looks great without the need for any modding skills etc.
I need to install crysis 1 tho. I have the dvd here but no dvd-reader in my itx machine :D *coughtorrentcough*

I think linus should do video about Crysis explained where he explains why the game runs slow on high end GPUs

I would do the same but download speed for "torrents" is max 100KB/s and normal is 2MB/s

I was thinking 2560 x 1600 as that seems to be the benchmark used.

supersampling and poorly optimized lighting pretty much. Any game runs worse when you 8x the resolution.

I download torrents with up to 11-12 megabyte/s (full potential of my internet connection). crysis has only 70 seeders so it may be slower....yep it is.. around 190kb/s
Edit: ok it went up to over 6mb/s and i had 2 torrents running to see wich one works better. i want to delete the one - it deletes both.
redid it and now i see 11mb/s

I've got a single 970 and it easily runs this game at 1080p veryhigh with 4x msaa at a minimum of 60fps.

Naw it could be done on the 9800GX2 or whatever that card was called.

It's not a multithreaded game, single threaded performance is king here. My 3570K is the limiting factor when i play, rarely does my GPU get to full usage.

It has allot of per pixel based screen effects like first every ssao implementation not to mention it's only able to use up to 2 threads so high single threaded performance is required.
