CPU temp.

Hi LTT,

 

I wonder if I did something wrong, cause my cpu temp goes from 30 to 65 then back to 30 and keeps doing it all the time.

Are you doing anything CPU intensive?

or like 1 sec it's 30 next sec it's 65?

yup, changes instantly and im able to hear the fan speed going up and down.

Driver issue? Perhaps you didn't install the driver for your motherboard?

does that on mine aswell but not that severe lol.

 

re-install drivers i would say.

 

which program are you using?

Forgot to reply yesterday. I think issue is with Gigabytes mobo. Try to update BIOS and set fan control profiles to default. 

 

Your temps are still fine and normal. Warning temps would be above 85C

There's something wrong with CPU fan header. It should gradually raise fan rpm when CPU temps go up. Rpm jumping around like that means that there's setting, curve or software which has buggy way to control fan.

 

^ That if your CPU usage doesn't jump around. If usage jumps around its issue with OS/software and not with mobo/fan.

Thats no-brainer. I'll try to put this in simple terms. Just to help you identify the problem.

 

• Fan rpm is adjusted by curve set in BIOS. This curve will follow CPU temps. So rpm will go up when temps go up.
• Temps go up when CPU usage goes up. Idle/low usage is under 15% and results as 35-45C temps (depends on cooler and room temp). Basic video, browsing etc. use results to 40-60% with temps up to 55C. High usage would be 60-80% with "gaming" temps of 60-75C. Max usage is 90%+ with max temps. Usually 75C+.
• Fans ramping rapidly could mean that curve in BIOS or fan control software is too steep or stepped. This means that temps raising 10C could mean fan rpm ramping from 30% to 60% instantly. Or it could be software/OS related, if CPU usage jumps around and raise temps accordingly. Usually reasons are updates, anti-virus scans, folding or malware/virus.

If you can find out which is issue, mobo or software/OS, we can continue this. But with current info, I'm not able to help anymore. Sorry.
