What is the difference between the Steelseries SP and the 9HD?

I've liked the SP for a long time but it's getting worn out and needs to be replaced.  Unfortunately you can't get the SP anymore, what is the difference between the old SP and the new  9HD.

Looking around I've come up with two differences.

1. The printing on the mousepad is different

2. The SP has a "textured surface" which I presume is a cloth-like surface while the 9HD has a hard plastic layer.
