1. Budget & Location

My budget is from $2500-$3000 NZD and I live in New Zealand

2. Aim

My aim is for this to be a media editing build, Music and Videos and also play games maxed at 1080p and be upgradeable so I can play games at 1440p when I get my hands on a ultrawide 1440p monitor

3. Monitors

1 which will be a 42" Tv 1920x1080p and then a upgrade to a ultrawide 1440p so 3440×1440

4. Peripherals

No peripherals, I have access to windows, mouse, keyboard and monitor

5. Why are you upgrading?

I'm coming from a PS3

6. Design

I want this PC to look nice, I want the internals to be as black as possible so I can add a RGB strip and custom water cooling down the line, I really like the Lian Li PC-O5S case but I don't know if I can get it in New Zealand

Don't bother spending money on water cooling until you have a 5820K with 980tis and 3 4k displays

maybe add an SSD, but you should put the rest of your money towards upgrading your display, probably to something 4k with free-sync, the 21:9 1440p displays aren't worth the money, as you get more pixels for less money with 4k

If ordering from AUS is an option there's this 4K IPS free-sync display for $700 there, 27" is a bit small, but I don't think the 32" korean displays are available over there

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

Missing the multiple 4k displays and the 2nd 980ti

but really you might as well wait for the next gen GPUs, the highest end single GPUs should be able to do a solid 60fps at 4k with higher settings, so it's best to buy the 4k display now, because the displays will cost the same in 5 months, but GPUs at the same price as now is give you 20-30% performance

The 4k will be a upgrade path, do you know when the new GPU comes out

They're probably coming in the summer, and it's a much better idea to invest in your display rather than your GPU if you don't already have a nice 4k display, as the GPUs to run 4k well will get increasingly cheaper with each new generation.
