disable taskbar showing when getting notifications

hello i wonder if there is a way to turn of the feature that makes my taskbar showing when getting notifications such as skype for example. it's really irritating i want the taskbar to be hidden but every time i get a skype IM the taskbar popups and doesn't go away until i clicked inside the chat.... can u do something about it so that the taskbar only shows when i drag my mouse down there or press the Win-key ? It's win7 (work computer)

you can disable all notification in windows settings. no other option, the notificiation are designed to show up on the taskbar, like your skype symbol gets a count with unread messages and such stuff.

where is that setting is it the group policy?

cause i did this: 

1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then press ENTER.
2. Locate the following subkey:
   HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced
3. Right-click the right side pane, create a new DWORD value, and then name it EnableBalloonTips.
4. Double-click EnableBalloonTips, and then give it a value of 0.
5. Close Registry Editor.
6. Log off Windows, and then log back on.

 

 but it didn't work since it is just for ballon tips not the application flashing yellow which is making the taskbar popup.

What? No.

Skype doesn't use Windows Balloon Notification APIs, it uses its own thing.

Go in Skype settings, and disable the notification.

 

As for balloon notification, on the notification tray, click on the up arrow, click on the blue link on the small panel, and you can set which program you want to show or not notifications.
