Need a decent PSU

Go to solution Solved by machooper9,

Yeah see if Corsair will replace it or at least give you some money for a newer model

Hello all,

I know this is a super common question, but I just wanted to get a few more opinions before buying something. My PSU in my gaming rig just died suddenly (an RM650) So I'm looking for a new one. I know all the other parts work fine, I just finished testing them with another PSU from another rig. So what do you recommend?

PC Specs

i7 4790K

Zalman LQ-310

GTX 980 Ti

16 GB RAM

1 SSD

1 HDD

Node 804

Thank you so much for the help!

BOINC Setup:
i5 7200U @ Stock

Core2Duo T6600 @ Stock

i3 2330M @ Stock

i5 3210M @ Stock

I'd get a refund for your RM cuz it's still under warranty and/or ask Corsair for a replacement.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

What's your budget? Generally the Corsair ones tend to be pretty good. Anything 500-600 or over should be pretty good for that system... Tip, go modular I went semi modular and regret it now that I want to get some nice coloured braided cables and can't change out my ATX and CPU power cables as they are hardlined in

That's not a bad idea. I think it's still under warranty

Also I agree with this guy, try and get a refund and chuck some of that money for a new one or if Corsair replace it even better no money needed

I'd prefer to spend as little as possible, however, if I have to spend 80 USD on a decent 650 or 750, I won't mind

RM has a 5 year warranty, I'd strongly suggest that you take advantage of it. If you get lucky, you'll probably get an RMx as a replacement if we don't have RM anymore. Start your RMA request, Corsair.force.com. If you have questions about the process, feel free to send me a PM.
