Is this a good overclocking guide?

Yep dude the prices are way crazier like the R9 390x is around 440$ here in PH and the choices of parts aren't that many.

Actually, $440 isn't too bad considering in Canada it's over $550.

I used to be quite active here.

Oh i see i thought it was much higher here in PH so i guess the only drawback here is the limited choice of parts.

440$ doesn't soud that bad xD

In my country R9 390X Nitro cost 500€ and average monthly salary in Slovenia can be compared to weekly average salary in Canada.

Just be glad if you can afford it :P

Just browsing web shouldn't increase your GPU temps by much. Maybe like 1-3°C more but nothing else.

Sometimes it's the thermal paste. I don't recommend doing it (since it voids the warranty,) but if you take the cooler off and replace the thermal paste on the GPU, the temps should go down.

Oh i see. Well i just noticed another thing the temps go down if i pause the game. Maybe because i maxed out everything and the card is having a hard time i really don't get 60fps while playing witcher 3 right now.

When you pause, the GPU usage goes down a ton- so temps going down makes sense. but, 77C in a 28C environment doesn't make any sense.

http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/gigabyte_geforce_gtx_970_g1_gaming_review,8.html < This is a review by Guru3d. Room temperature was 28C, and the bottom temp slide is the max load temps, 60C for your card. Does it ever get really loud?

I'm not really sure if the noise is coming from my card but it gets really noisy when it hits around 70C

Watch GPU-Z or Afterburner and see if the fan speed goes up drastically. The fans on that card never really get all too loud.

That's a bit weird. Probably thermal paste. If you don't want to void your warranty, you can return it (not RMA) and get a new one.

Oh.. Probably not. Well, you don't have too many options other than taking the cooler off and changing the thermal paste. It voids the warranty, but if you're careful, you won't damage the card.

All you do is take the screws off of the bottom of the card, usually 4 screws in a square around the GPU chip.

The cooler should come right off. The fans will be plugged into the card. You don't have to, but you can unplug the fans so that you can move them away from the graphics card.

Clean the thermal paste off of both the GPU and the cooler's surface, then replace the paste with fresh paste, then carefully screw the cooler back onto the card.

If you unplugged the fans, remember to plug them back in.

Oh i see does any brand of thermal paste good? I still don't have an extra thermal paste so i still need to buy one. BTW what would you recommend to do before touching the gpu so i won't get static?

Not sure about your GPU, but mine have 3 years warranty :)

So check your papers before you start craking GPU open.

If you want to get rid of static, plug your PSU into the wall and touch it every once in a while. You could also just touch a metal desk or something grounded. It's really just grounding yourself.

Good thermal pastes for GPU's are:

Noctua NT-H1 (best)

Tuniq TX-4 (Tuniq TX2 is cheaper, but a bit worse)

Arctic Cooling MX-4 (AC MX-2 is cheaper, but a bit worse)

That's 5 choices. They're not ultra-cheap, around $10 a tube in the US, but there's lots in there and they're all very high quality. All non-conductive, and will last for years. Any thermal paste will do realistically, but better stuff will give better temps and last longer.

In that case you should do as @Kobathor said. Remove fans and change thermal paste.

But be sure to check few guides before doing so. I have never done it before, but you will find tons of guides on web or just open another thread and other members of this forum will help you with it :)
