THE Ultimate PC, need help building

Hello I am doing a school project for my computer class and i need help picking out parts for the THE Ultimate PC, but i don't know what to use . My mind is swimming in endless amounts of ideas. The pc doesn't have a limit with cost. please any ideas are helpful.

i go to a vocational high school and i am in a computer class, we got to pick our own topic

Technically dual Titan X's would be the ultimate PC if you consider playing at something like 4k, although dual 980ti cards would likely be better

 

CPU-wise you'd be looking at dual 4699 v3's which according to Intel's website run about $7,000 each. They're 18 core and I assume they're compatible to be run as 2 in the same board. Realistically you could get the 2699v3 for much much less. Either way it's 18-core x2 (36 core/72 thread)

 

 

I'm assuming this is a gaming/productivity rig and if the project is about accuracy I'd stick with the 5960x/dual 980ti cards

If you're taking games and such into account for the overall ultimate PC wouldn't the 5960X be better than the top Xeon?

A decently binned and overclocked 6700k might give a 5960x a run for it's money. Multithreaded performance wouldn't be a competition.

some would consider their ultimate computer to be one thats completely silent, others would go for 4 18-core xeons and 8 titans in a rackmount that makes more noise than a jet engine. (wink to those who seen linus' periscope)

If those are E7, that's more than two sockets.

Non consumer parts like for a super computer at some university or something then. Quantum computers and what not, billion dollar machines.

That's the problem, there's no absolute best at everything.  Different parts are made to do different jobs.  Some CPU's are geared towards workstation tasks and don't focus on the factors necessary to perform well in games and such.  Likewise workstation GPU's are built for workstation tasks like 3D modeling and whatnot, while gaming GPU's are made to increase gaming performance.

 

You won't get the best workstation PC without sacrificing gaming performance and vice versa.
