Worth Getting a Sound Card?

Kilerbomb
Go to solution Solved by h264,

Your USB audio "config puck" IS a sound card. Getting another one will do nothing.

I've been thinking about getting a sound card for a while now, but I'm not really sure if it will make too much of a difference with my current headphones. I currently have the CM Storm Cirus 5.1 surround headset. It's true 5.1 surround, so it has the multicolored audio jacks. Right now I'm just using USB, and the included audio config puck, and it already sounds great.

If I were to get a sound card, it would be either the ASUS Xonar DX or the Asus Xonar D1. So, anyone here have any suggestions on which route to take?

"Pardon my French but this is just about the most ignorant blanket statement I've ever read. And though this is the internet, I'm not even exaggerating."

Oh, I just thought it controlled the audio levels in the software, and nothing else. That's pretty cool that it's actually it's own sound card. Thanks for the info. I'm glad I asked here before just going out and buying one, would have been a waste of money.

For future reference, if you feel your current sound is already good then you don't need a soundcard.
