You will just run into issues with scaling to 5K it would be even worse than 4K for scaling.

make sure to quote people so they see your replies.

I only know of two 5K monitors/machines.

1. Apple's 5K iMac

2. And Dell's UP2715K monitor, which is only worth using if you have a Quadro or FirePro GPU that supports 10-bit color.  If you have only GeForce or AMD consumer gaming GPUs, forget it.

Well it seems HP and Phillips also have one 5K monitor model each:

5K iMac is going to be his/her cheapest option.

Dell, HP, Phillips' 5K monitors each cost around $2000, add a Quadro/FirePro card and it's going to be around $2500 minimum just for the monitor and GPU alone.

I can get the Dell UP2715K monitor for around $1000 where I live, but as I said this monitor is worth having only if you have a Quadro/FirePro card.  It's a true 10-bit monitor with a wide color gamut display.  Consumer GPUs do not support 10-bit output to really utilize this monitor.

but if you want 5k, and get it at a "steal" you could just live with not getting that 10-bit output like a peasant :P

A 5K iMac would be cheaper and you can install Windows with Bootcamp.

This is what i believe as well, but for some reason i can select 10 bit color in Nvidia control panel and i don't have a Quadro. It might be a bug or a very limited 10 bit support, but the option is there.

They support 10-bit per channel color on DirectX, but not on OpenCL/OpenGL which are used by professional applications.

I mean 5000 without the monitor

Now the main question is, why do you want a 5K setup?
