Hi!

I have been wanting to build a computer for a very long time and have just recently acquired the means to make money (YAY).  After a lot of research and a considerable amount of time wasted on YouTube videos, I have decided on these parts.  http://pcpartpicker.com/p/r7DRZL

As a first time builder with absolutely no experience, I would definitely appreciate some advice on my build.

I have chosen the standard 4690 instead of the unlocked because I will not be overclocking at all, and am on a budget.

Any advice at all will help.

Thanks!!

I would go for skylake and get a better PSU like a S12-|| 620W.

Go for a 4460 instead, performance is extremely similar if you're not OCing. Also, you don't need a Z97 board if you're not using a K series chip. Go for something like this:

PCPartPicker part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/n6MkhM

Edit: Skylake is an option too. If you want do that try something like this (just did this build for my brother a few months ago): http://pcpartpicker.com/p/wmqzJx

(ignore the 1000w PSU, it was a really good deal at the time)

Yeah but no,

35 bucks on a pure rock for a non OC CPU yet you keep the 2 extra fans and the crappy corsair CX PSU? However changing the mobo is something I forgot :)

i5 6500 where you can BLCK Overclock if you ever feel like doing so. The motherboard will support any future upgrades and overclocks. XFX AMD GPU, I heard alot of good stuff about them. SeaSonic, basically SafeSonic literally SeaSonic makes the best powersupplies even if they have low wattage output. I would spent the extra money on like making my build look nice or my workspace, like getting Mouse mat/headset/speakers.

Again,

the mobo, the fans, 16GBs of RAM howver is a considerable option. The question is: What does he want to do with his rig.

I would be used it to do light video editing and gaming.  I would like it to last me a long time, while also delivering consistent yet high quality performance.

H - Doesn't officially support overclocking, example (H170, H97, H87)

Z - Supports overclocking, example (Z170, Z97, Z87)

There are more

RAM is something you can upgrade (rather) easily in the future. I think you might even be better of with 16GB. If I'd have to dumb the option of an SSD for that becasue of budget and had to decide I would go for the SSD though.

So you are suggesting that I use 16 GB of RAM and get an additional SSD, or replace the HDD with an SSD?

I kept the fans because they're nice to have in an S340 since there's no front intake. I don't know enough about PSUs to bother changing it or suggesting a better one, figured someone else would get that.
