DDR4

Go to solution Solved by Dravic,

Does anyone know any news about DDR4 Memory I have heard little bits but wondered if any of you guys know anything

Thanks

Faster than DDR3 but higher latencies and the speed gain will be negligible.

Will be very expensive new tech.

Bottom line: Not worth waiting for.

Bottom line: Not worth waiting for.

It will also have 16GB sticks so it's worth it

Do we need DDR4?

No, 1200MHz DDR2 is actually better than 1600MHz DDR3, so I suspect that DDR4 will be the same way, 2400MHZ DDR3 will will be bettere than average DDR4

[AMD Athlon 64 Mobile 4000+ Socket 754 | Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro nForce3 | OCZ 2GB DDR PC3200 | Sapphire HD 3850 512MB AGP | 850 Evo | Seasonic 430W | Win XP/10]

Can someone list the performance boost of it?

APU's benefit from more mhz. Dirt 3@720p and 1333 RAM gets 41fps, while 2400mhz gets 72 frames. DDR4 RAM will end up with faster speeds which will aid APU's. Although, the maximum that will be currently supported natively for Haswell-E is 2133. At the moment if you want more you will probably have to overclock. Also, this will probably change the closer we get to a release date

For RAMDisk? Then yes, but  if you're someone like me that plays games and programs, then who needs 64GB on a motherboard with 4 DIMM slots?

Me

Do you edit videos, after effects? Animation? 3D work? I don't know anything else that would use up all the memory expect for running prime 95 :P

Will be very expensive new tech.

Bottom line: Not worth waiting for.

It will be like DDR3 when it first came out. The future iterations after its launch will be cheaper and will get better. Though DDR3 will still be the majority until the speed upgrade is worth the small price jump.

I was more of asking statistics saying DDR4 was good not more mhz the better.

I thought I covered that. DDR4 has more mhz than the DDR3 equivalent...
