Just got a BenQ Xl2411t and WOW!

Jackbe

Hi all,

Just thought I'd give you my opinion on 120/144Hz.

I just bought a BenQ XL2411t and it arrived today. I have it set to 144Hz mode, although the difference between 120 and 144Hz is not really noticeable, and it is REALLY smooth. I had no idea how smooth it would be and the response time for my mouse seems basically non existent, although it was very good before. I am very impressed.

In my opinion, this is better than 2K, my friend has an Asus 2K PLS monitor and while the picture is amazing, it does not make me smile every time I move the mouse :P

I play a lot of BF3, so my opinion is very much from a serious gamer point of view, but if you can notice differences in frame rates, you will probably love 120/144Hz.

My only issue I had with this monitor is that it took a bit of fiddling to get the colours to look nice (for a TN panel). The preset from the factory is shocking.

Picture quality isn't better but input lag and overall smoothness of gameplay is vastly superior. I play fps games on my shitty TN monitor as it performs better than my 1440p Asus monitor.

I clearly stated that I prefer the smoothness and response time of 144Hz.

I got mine recently as well. It's so smooth compared to 60 hz! Now 60 hz seems laggy to me :P

Yeah, I have a secondary 60Hz monitor, and even moving the mouse or a window around feels horrible now. I've only been using it for 45 minutes! :P

My thoughts exactly. Also, lower response times and panels that can properly display 120Hz, as opposed to current 2K panels that can't run 120Hz properly so you get tonnes of motion blur. Ew...

lol. I'm sure you would. I'm sorry to break it to you but I think I will pass on that one. :)

As a heads up for possible purchasers, I could happily live without a 1440p monitor as they are very expensive and don't offer a huge benefit over 1080p (I'm still not going to give you mine ;)). There is no way I would get anything other than IPS/PLS panel for everyday usage. I can get over the sub par contrast of TN panels but sub par colours wrecks my head too much. IPS/PLS panels are like SSD's in that way. Once you've owned one, they instantly become a requirement. At least IPS has come way down in price.

Maybe I got unlucky with the TN panels I had. I had an Asus VW246H & Dell E207WFPc and somehow they were both blown away this yoke.

It was given to me as a friend was throwing it out but this thing showed colours the other two couldn't even dream of. I've no idea how it looked so much better than the others but it did. All the little things like the shine on the iTunes header looked so much better on it. Unfortunately it was only 1280x1024 so it could never be a contender.

@smjpl I went from 1440p to 1080p and I notice the difference quite a lot. It is out of my price range right now though.

True, but there are ones that you can overclock to '120Hz'. Those ones get horrible motion blur at 120Hz because the pixels can't switch fast enough to display it properly.

Using my BenQ  XL2420t as a secondary monitor and my BenQ RL2450 as a tertiary monitor since yesterday and put an ASUS PB278Q PLS 1440p monitor in the middle. Honestly I don't really miss the 120hz. The Res / Colors make up for it so easily. And I get a lot less eye strain when reading articles / texting and so on^^
