Sorry what is your specific OS?

Example: Windows 10 64-bit

If that is your OS and the motherboard info you gave me is correct than these are drivers you want to install: http://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/Z170-AR/HelpDesk_Download/

Select your OS and click on LAN. Download that the only driver and the ethernet should work.

I fixed the problem, I had to uninstall the drivers I had installed, and then reinstall them through the link you gave me. Thanks!

Ok. This is going to be a bit more complicated than i thought. Take a picture of the back of the pc (if you are using a desktop) and try to label the ethernet connection. Its fine if you dont.

Its literally plugged into the only ethernet port I have.

Ethernet doesn't even show up, that was the problem from the start

Your sure everything is correct? You downloaded the right drivers? You know what your motherboard is? Your ethernet is plugged in. Weird I had the same problem, but it was solved with the previously mentioned steps.

It seems that, for some odd reason, your Ethernet card's adapter was deleted from your Network settings page. To remedy this, one must create a new LAN connection and point it to your adapter. If you don't know how to do this, follow a simple rule -- if you think what you're clicking is correct, it most likely is.

In your Network Connections there should be an option to add a network. Follow the on-screen instructions to create a LAN network. Not broadband, not PPPOE, you're looking for LAN, with your specific LAN adapter.
