I need some bottleneck advice

Hi everyone, this is my first post on  the LinusTechTips forum! I have just finished building my new pc and i was wondering if the tech community could help me find if i have any bottlenecks in my system :D

Here is my rig :

AMD FX 8300 @ 3.3 GHz

RADEON R7 370 STRIX 4GB

8GB DDR3 1333MHz

Cooler Master B600 ver. 2

Thank you in advance !

doesn't look like it. Although if you get a better gpu, your CPU will start to hold you back a little.

Why are you feeding him/her that crap.  :(

He has a slow CPU and an entry level GPU.  He will hit the performance wall in quite a few applications.  :|

What is a bottleneck?

Thank you very much for your fast reply !

At the current time with your current parts you shouldn't really have any system bottlenecking. If you upgrade that GPU though to something a lot more powerful I could see the CPU creating a bottleneck. But right now you should be good.

Hi, search on youtube "what is bottleneck", i think Linus has one on it :)

You always have bottlenecks. There's no such thing as no bottleneck unless you've spent thousands of hours analyzing performance & your usage.

Here's how you find your bottlenecks: Run whatever you use your computer for most, open up task manager, and see if any of the numbers in the process tab are turning yellow.

Big if though...he's got a fairly decent gpu currently

Well it's basically when you buy for example a high-end gpu and have a low end cpu. The cpu can't feed the gpu witg enough information at a time and it's "bottlenecking" it. Like a neck of a bottle, it's narrowand not enough fluid can pass trough it :)

He means bottle necking in between his individual hardware, not applications and hardware.

So how do you measure this?

having a bottleneck means that one peice of hardware is slowing down and not being able to use another one to its full potential.

Mate you don't even know what a bottleneck is, don't act like you know what you're talking about.

Also please answer the OP's question or don't bother posting! Especially slanting off their system.

@Ledjo

I agree with @Vivilacqua1

Your CPU will not hold back the R9 370 in many games/tasks, you will be fine!

Although if you upgrade the GPU in the future you will likely need to get a new CPU to use with it.

Nothing in your build should cause a bottleneck.

There are measures units of bottlenecking? Like compute ratios or something?

It doesn't matter. He is just asking if he has any.

you can't. You just have to judge it based on the components of the build.

Well does he?

If no:  How do you measure this?

If yes:  How do you measure this?

I am not being mean.  I am being facetious.

It's very simple, google it.

OP, hope your question has been answered!

you can, but that would require pairing every price of hardware with each other wich would be super expensive, plus run the tests . Better just to judge accurately. :)

It doesn't even matter how it is measured, as in this case the OP is just asking if he has any at all.

If you want to know for sure, post your own thread about it and stop being satirical, and ruining the friendly environment, or you may be reported.
