S12II is quite a bit better than the VS. It's also better than the CX and CS

each power supply manufacturer has a set budget they can spend on engineering a power supply.

 

seasonic decided to put that budget into making actually good power supplies, instead of just making them look nice.

Both are entry-level units but the VS is one of the worst on the scale while S12II is one of the best. So depends on the purpose of your PC. For heavy overclocking, none of these (since they are entry-level); For average usage, s12II is much better.

For powering what, exactly? @quan289can help out here, but I would think he'd agree in saying that the S12 is likely going to be better.

Yep, I would agree that the S12II-B 620w is indeed the better unit.
