My dad had owned an old Audi A4 for a while, and one night when we got near the house, he told me to drive. I got into the drivers seat, started driving, and the rest I have forgotten.

My dad and one of my oldest brothers (they were 16+ when I was born) used to let me sit on their laps and steer the car without any help when I was a kid. Made me feel like a boss.

My cousin taught me how to drive in a manual car, and to this day I still hear that terrible noise when you grind the gears *shudders*

that really grinds my gears

Aged 14, my cousin was picking me up to go visit some friends. Stopped in an empty parking lot and told me to drive around for a bit, so I could see how "easy" it was. Car was a 1994 Honda Accord and lets just say lots of hooniganism ensued that afternoon.

I was with my dad, we were on a honda civic '99 (manual) and he pulled over and said: "drive" and I did, it was hard at first, but I did, and to this day I can't stand driving an automatic car, it's just too much fun to drive manual
