Thats nice but what would be nicer is if we could get that in Windows 7. There are quite a few more W7 users then there are W8 users. So if Microsoft actually want people to start using Direct X 11.1/.2 then they might want to put it onto W7 otherwise devs will simply stop using directx 11.1/2 and will go for 11, 10 or 9 instead. Devs won't waste money making a game for the new directX versions if only a small majority will use it. Microsoft can do it by the way it's just that they are using this as an excuse to get people onto W8. It won't work by the way as 11.1 and .2 don't much of an advantage in graphical fidelity only performance. It is a shame though because i would love it to come to W7.

So devs won't make games for Win8 because there are more Win7 users? I guess this means that Microsoft will scrap 11.1 and .2 and keep everything DX11. It's a shame. I kind of enjoy performance boosts.

It's actually really stupid in a business point of view. Because no one is going to buy W8 just because of DirectX 11.1 and .2 when they have to deal with bad support (most games don't work on W8) and the poor UI decisions by M$. If they put the new DirectX versions onto W7 there will probably be a bigger boost to W7 then there would be to W8.

All my games work on windows 8. Bioshock Infinite, Tomb Raider, Metro LL, Crysis 3, FarCry3, Minecraft, GTA IV, COD, BF3, Borderlands 2, just to name a few.

yeah... no you won't, 32gig is max your board can handle.

dear god people, learn for once video ram does not matter in general system requirements, everything over one gig is plenty for 1080p gaming. What the hell is wrong with you, If you're not playing on more than 2x1080 screens you don't need the 3 gig.

I could argue that there are games that max out 2GB vram of GPUs (GTX 770 for example).

Everyone who's butthurt that they dont have 3gb vram, you're FINE. If you weren't running on BF3 on ultra then you're not gonna be running BF4 on ultra. TBH those RSR are very misleading

(lmao 660/7870 suuure if you're fine with 30fps ultra lol xD), IMO they SHOULD have gone with FPS rated specs for each tier of graphics presets as that is what everyone cares MOST about. ie:

Low  60fps

Medium  60fps

High  60fps

Ultra ≥ 60fps

All my games work on windows 8. Bioshock Infinite, Tomb Raider, Metro LL, Crysis 3, FarCry3, Minecraft, GTA IV, COD, BF3, Borderlands 2, just to name a few.

All modern titles. Many people still like to play older titles on PC. Eg. all the fallout games, older elder scrolls games. Loads of other games that are either ancient or are 4 years old. They probably won't work on W8. W7 is still better in terms of compatibility as much work has been done to get older games to work on it. All GOG games are made to work on Linux, W7 and MAC so most of those games won't work on W8.

1440p maybe, Theyre saying 3gb not because it going use ALL of that vram, but between 2.2-2.6 at least. BF3 ultra 1080p uses 1.9 so 3gb in BF4 makes sense.

I got BF 3 in humble bundle, and at all specs ultra it never went over 1,5 gb of vram for the gpu ( AA max ) i have a gtx 670.

BF 4 will require 3 gigs of ram maybe!! And i doubt that anyone who has a 7950/7970 or a 670/680/770 will be able to max it anyway with a reasonable FPS even at 1080p, i mean if crysis 3 was a monster, why do you expect BF 4 to be any less, and even if you max out BF4 in single plyer you can forget about multi player.

So anyone of you who has multi gpu configurations of cards i have mentioned above or a Titan/780 i have one thing to say: LUCKY DOGS!!! xD

Battlefield 4 maxed out uses close to 3gb vram? Hard to believe

I only use 2200-2400 mb on 5760x1080, I REALLY doubt that 1920x1080 bf4 ultra etc will use 3gb.

2200-2400 is on absolute max settings too

Ehh ive had quite a bit of experience with multi gpu (Used to have sli 680s) and i can honestly say multi gpu SUCKS in mass multiplayer online. Which is what i mostly do, dont get me wrong sp game fps was awesome but not worth it imo. Also im trying to push at least 100fps + since i have 144hz monitor, so when i would turn my settings down a bit, the usage drops were absolutely HORRENDOUS, and gameplay was just incredibly choppy. My 780 is giving 5-10fps less, but its going at 99% 24/7 and im getting the smoothest gaming experience ive ever had.
