The e17 is spec'd better in just about every spec that matters, plus it has optical/coax input, can be plugged into an e9k, and is battery powered making it a "mobile" device. FiiO's website does say the e17 has more channel imbalance, however.

Hmm, I must take note of this thread. I'm heading to the states next month; can't wait to take advantage of cheap electronics in US!

DT990 Pro @ only USD150! Fiio E10 @ only USD65!

ahh, ok so the e10 is not portable, deal breaker for me as ill be using the amp/dac with my nexus 4 for the most part.....

forgot to mention, what are your thoughts on the fiio e07k, from what i can tell the only drawbacks from the e17 are:

- generally slightly less spec'd (not enough to make a real world difference)

- no optical/coaxial ( will never use it, doesn't matter to me)

-slightly less ohm power ( the only thing i'm really worried about, will there be enough to power my 250ohm dt770 pro's?)

oh and don't suggest the ek9, its not portable so i'm not interested.

Oh, I wasn't suggesting the e9k, just noting that the e17 can plug into it whereas the e10 cannot since you asked for all the differences.

As far as e7k vs e17, I think the kicker is the S/PDIF connections, so I'd get the e7k for your use case.

For loudness, my phone gets my DT990's loud enough at max volume, so assuming the FiiO would get louder, it should be fine.

Hahaha, thinking of picking up a iPod Touch 5 as well since its cheaper in the States. But Fiio X3 seems to be better lol Zzz E10 should pair very well I guess.

Are you planing on using the DT990's with an ipod? You said they are $150, so I assume they are the Pro 250 ohm. I wouldn't recommend a semi-high impedance headphone for an ipod.

Those suggesting using an E10 for portable use may not have noticed that it doesn't have a battery?

nor line in

but it can be used with tablets/phones with a USB host that can deliver enough power.

but yea, I'd go e7 or e17 for portable use.

Will work for electronic components and parts

Paired with the E10.
