Got this case to upgrade from a bitfenix merc beta with one rear cruddy fan.

The original idea was that I wanted more airflow and less noise.

Installed everything and at idle this case is WAY louder than the bitfenix case. I know it has 3 fans as opposed to one but there is a considerable turbulence that seems to be going on its making an audible pulsing noise like wuhwuhwuhwuh

Really disappointing. all fans are running at 1150-1190 RPM, are 3 pin and I only have 2 mobo fan headers so I'm guessing I'm stuck not being able to control anything.

Case seems to be anything but silent.

At load its quieter than the old one but at idle its just annoying...

What was the RPM of your fans in your last case though?

1200 RPM isn't supposed to be silent or anything, and I'd argue the air flow isn't even needed that much, I run all my fans at 500 rpm or so, and my temps are great.

Also, can't your motherboard control 3 pin fans? On my motherboard I can choose between PWM based control, or voltage control.

Furthermore, you can use fan splitter cables, so 2 headers should be fine.

Well usually, you'd just set your fan RPMs in the BIOS/UEFI. If you just plug the fans in without fucking around with anything, they'll generally run too fast.

Ive tried, using a g43m from MSI. Set fans to max 60% in the bios but nothing changed. they are 3pin

Ahh, I see, try buying some 5v or 7v resistor cables you can put between the motherboard and the fans, or get a fan control unit.

If you're worried about the fans being to loud, then change them. Go got Noctua fans, Be Quiet! Fans. There so man fans which a better than the ones you get with the case.

Well the fans that come with his case aren't actually that bad, I doubt OP wants to spend 45 quid on fans, considering his motherboard only costs 50 quid or something.

Looking around, it might just be easy to get something like this:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/BitFenix-20cm-Molex-3-Pin-Adapter/dp/B004ULZ2NU/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1455323547&sr=8-2&keywords=7v+adapter

7v is about 720 rpm for your fans, which is fairly quiet, but not silent.

There are also 5v versions, which should be around 480 rpm.

System specs
  • Graphics card: Asus GTX 980 Ti (Temp target: 60c, fan speed: slow as hell)

Well yes, generally that's how you adjust the speed of fans when you don't have access to a 4th pin.

You could get a fan controller like this:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/NZXT-Sentry-Mesh-Channel-Controller/dp/B005C31G30/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1455323724&sr=8-7&keywords=fan+controller

If you want finite control. But generally, you'd just set it and forget it.

What other hardware are you running? Like CPU/GPU.

Yeah, I'd say just get the 7v adapter, I mean, 5 pound isn't alot and you can choose the colour of the cable. Should provide enough airflow while being quiet, if you want it quieter still, you can just buy the 5v and keep the 7v as a spare.

Incoming stupid question

Thats a molex + 3x3pin connectors does this mean i can connect 3 fans to it as in

PSU -> Molex -> Fan, Fan, Fan

That's correct.

Just so you know, you can get the molex to fan thingy in different colors. Quick amazon search should present them.
