$1600 AUD Gaming Build

HKZeroFive

G'day boys and girls.

A mate of mine has recently contracted me to plan out his first gaming PC so I've whipped up a rough idea of what I'll get. His budget is around $1600 AUD and he won't require any peripherals, monitor or OS.

On a side note, I'll probably get a few replies saying to change to the R9 390. I'm more of a 'whichever is cheapest' guy and the GTX 970 is actually priced lower than its AMD counterpart here, and I'll have the added benefit of helping him through all of the NVIDIA software which I already know through my own experience. So yeah, other than that, feel free to suggest any other changes.

Looks pretty good, though to shave some money off you could go for a Coolermaster Hyper 212 EVO if you can find one .

I prefer the look of the CRYORIG H7 to be honest.

I might just give him my own CM Hyper 212 EVO and take it for myself :P

Really? Have you looked at the price of the CM 212? https://www.pccasegear.com/products/22829

That's not the evo but I see where you are coming from. I remember it was basically impossible to find a 212 evo for a build I was doing for a friend. That's why I said if you could find one :)

Looks alright, I personally wouldn't try 4.8GHz CPU + 1600MHz GPU though. Could probably achieve it but 520W seems too low for me at those OC settings.

I found this btw, I'd personally go for it highly doubt you'd see a difference in boot times... But it's up to you.

Sorry bud, I'm not taking that suggestion. The Antec one is way better.

Eh, I believe 520W is enough. The GTX 970 won't draw much power so I'm not worried at all.

Thanks for the SSD suggestions, I'll have a look at them.
