Honestly man, go for Skylake, unless you have the DDR3 lying around or it's too much of a budget push investing in the new infrastructure, new memory, better CPUs will cost more now but save a lot of money and hassle in the future. Drop the 980Ti down to a 980 and go for skylake - plus I'd go for a better PSU - 80+ bronze on a 980ti whilst compatiable not a fully favourable move :D

That seems to be a very unbalanced build. Read this next time:

And remember to please use pcpartpicker.com please

Change that motherboard to a Z97, you won't be able to overclock on the H97 board. Also you will want at least 650W, get an EVGA G2 unit or a seasonic one. With this kind of build you will also need an SSD, grab a 250gb one if possible.

oh thanks for the mark up tip, a skylake was what I was going for but won't speed be a bit slow?

There isn't a decent i7 +980ti build for 1250-1300 dollars, you'll cut back on important stuf like the psu, mbo, storage and kooling.

This is what I can get you for 1250-1300

Windows 7 (with free upgrade to 10) can be bought for 20 dollars here; https://www.reddit.com/r/microsoftsoftwareswap/

Is the R9 good as the 980 ti?

a bad gap, but it is also less then half the 980ti :) (in cost, not perfomance)

And you have to know that this is only a test at 1080p, at 1440 the gap is bigger.

eh that gap isn't to bad for me I have a 108p monitor I think the R9 will be great also if I want could I future upgrade the r9 to a 980ti ?

@TechNexus If you go 1080p the 980ti doesn't make any sense really. So, yes, the 390 (if you refer to it as the R9, people will not know what you mean because there is also a R9 370, 380, 380x and 390x) will be great for you. upgrading to a 980ti is possible, but when you're ready for an upgrade, it'll be a few years (2-4) later and there will be all new gpu's so don't worry to much about that.

Only thing you can maybe change is the psu for a 750W one, for more expansion room and the 390 is really power hungry.

Ps:(So that would be this build:http://pcpartpicker.com/p/zPhkhM)
