Should I switch to UnRaid???

I've been having a bunch of issues trying to get some games to run on my windows 10 dual cpu rig. I've gotten the games to run in a VM but I can't/don't know how to pass-through my graphics card so they actually run decently.

So my question is: Should I switch to UnRaid and run my windows 10 in a VM? and if I do go with UnRaid, can I keep the windows 10 I have for the VM?

I'm really interestend in unRaid. Maybe not as much as linus, but still.

switching sounds like a good idea, just make sure your motherboard (and bios) supports VT-X and VT-D these features are necessary for unraid to work and pass through pci devices.

As for your win 10 install. I'm not sure......

It would depend on your windows key. If it's a normal retail key then all you do is follow activation and it should be all good.

If its an OEM key from the web it will be a different story, they can't be "swapped" to new platforms (even if its actually the same platform) but as it's visualized it might not matter. But if it does, a new OEM key can be picked up online for less than $20 USD.

hope this helps!

Thanks for the comment, I'll be sure to check that my components are compatible. Didn't know that OEM keys are non-transferable, good to know. Thanks!

I don't like UnRaid... Cool things being free is more what Linux is all about.. but they have a right to monetize on their hard work so I don't hold it against them, I would just try anything else instead, before.

Here are a couple of links I have concerning this exactly, I was just looking into this.
