Posted February 11, 2016 I've been having a bunch of issues trying to get some games to run on my windows 10 dual cpu rig. I've gotten the games to run in a VM but I can't/don't know how to pass-through my graphics card so they actually run decently. So my question is: Should I switch to UnRaid and run my windows 10 in a VM? and if I do go with UnRaid, can I keep the windows 10 I have for the VM? **** (: Check out my current [Build Log] - Dark Predator Build :) ****
 Posted February 14, 2016 I'm really interestend in unRaid. Maybe not as much as linus, but still. switching sounds like a good idea, just make sure your motherboard (and bios) supports VT-X and VT-D these features are necessary for unraid to work and pass through pci devices. As for your win 10 install. I'm not sure...... It would depend on your windows key. If it's a normal retail key then all you do is follow activation and it should be all good. If its an OEM key from the web it will be a different story, they can't be "swapped" to new platforms (even if its actually the same platform) but as it's visualized it might not matter. But if it does, a new OEM key can be picked up online for less than $20 USD. hope this helps! http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/494894-laser-oak-kodi-box-htpc-build/ - my super classy htpc case build
 Didn't know that OEM keys are non-transferable, good to know. Posted February 21, 2016 I don't like UnRaid... Cool things being free is more what Linux is all about.. but they have a right to monetize on their hard work so I don't hold it against them, I would just try anything else instead, before. Here are a couple of links I have concerning this exactly, I was just looking into this. https://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/comments/2z0evz/gpu_passthrough_or_how_to_play_any_game_at_near/ http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1776772/virtual-run-games.html https://www.pugetsystems.com/labs/articles/Multi-headed-VMWare-Gaming-Setup-564/ Personal Rig: [UPGRADE] CPU: AMD Ryzen 5900X Mb: Gigabyte X570 Gaming X RAM: 2x16GB DDR4 Corsair Vengeance Pro GPU: Gigabyte NVIDIA RTX 3070 Case: Corsair 400D Storage: INTEL SSDSCKJW120H6 M.2 120GB PSU: Antec 850W 80+ Gold Display(s): GAOO, 现代e窗, Samsung 4K TV Cooling: Noctua NH-D15 Operating System(s): Windows 10 / Arch Linux / Garuda [OLD] CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6500 @ 3.2 GHz Mb: Gigabyte Z170X-Gaming 3 RAM: 2x4GB DDR4 GSKILL RIPJAWS 4 GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 Case: Aerocool PSG V2X Advance Storage: INTEL SSDSCKJW120H6 M.2 120GB PSU: EVGA 500W 80+ Bronce Display(s): Samsung LS19B150 Cooling: Aerocool Shark White Operating System(s): Windows 10 / Arch Linux / OpenSUSE
