Hi guys,
I was planing a build for my friend recently and the only thing i need now is a mother-board and a CPU.
I wonder what to get : INTEL or AMD.
I know this is a BIG question but i would like to give me some advices.
I've seen a lot of reviews but there the default choice is INTEL .
INTEL Everywhere tongue.gif
I want a good CPU for gaming mostly and video rendering. (a lot of multitasking)
What is wrong with AMD that nobody likes that ?
I want to choose beetwen
AMD FX-8350 and Intel i5-4670k
I want a good performance , not a defective part.
What about upgrading? A CPU wont last for life smile.gif ,(i will have it for 3-4 years)
Please guys give me some advice ...I never had an AMD processor ...
And sorry for my bad english smile.gif

His specs are :
256GB Samsung 840 Pro Series
2TB Seagate Barracuda
Gigabyte HD7970

1080p monitor
He will play all the upcoming games like
AC4 Black flag, watch dogs, and all the other games smile.gif

What's the budget? It depends on that. Though judging by the rest of your parts, I think a 4670k would be a good fit.

8350 +1, but from what I read the socket is not that future proof, in a few years when you will be due for a CPU change, you'll have to change the motherboard too. Anyways, by then (it's not before ~5 years I would say) there will be better hardware to get than what AM3+ socket can offer, so it's not a big deal.

Gaming wise, the 8350 will give you equal performance as the 4670k or so, and it's cheaper, so go for it. It also has 8 cores, which is an advantage when you want to use multithreaded applications, while the 4670k has 4. ;)

You said you have 370$ left, so I think a 4670k + any z87 board would be your best option.

Wrong forum, here 99% of people are AMD fans/fanboys/lovers/whatever. And the rest has to behave accordingly (no AMD hating or Intel loving here, on LinusTechTips you will find anomaly that FX 8320 is "much faster" than i5).

With that said, multitasking should be better with 8-core FX 8320. But overall smoothness of the system is better with i5. Your choice. For gaming i5 is your best bet.

So... If Jesus had the gold, would he buy himself out instead of waiting 3 days for the respawn?

Find a motherboard you like, and decide from there.

I'd say the 4670k, but that's just me.

I don't know why people hate on AMD so much (and vice versa  ), but I will say this. For gaming, at least, the selection of CPU is not as important as selecting your GPU. AMD and Intel CPUs both function more or less that same for gaming, while Nvidia and AMD GPUs function differently. For me, I don't mind AMD CPU's, but I have to have a Nvidia graphics card for physX.

But that's just me, most of this stuff is subjective.

What about twice more cores ?

These cores will be better for multitasking aren't they

Most games today use 2 and 4 cores so in the future the will use 8 ,, am i wrong ?

Cores don't mean everything, overall the 4670k performs better than the 8350. The 8350 might have a very slight advantage in software that's very well optimized for 4+ cores, though currently that certainly isn't games or normal everyday software.

Thanks guys , i just saw some reviews and Intel beats AMD in any kind of game and application ,, i dont know about u guys but i dont trust them.
I saw an another video in youtube about realtime multitasking of AMD FX8350 and that was AWESOME

He opened:
1.     9 X VLC media player all movies MP4
2.     2 X Sony Vegas Pro rendering full HD 1080p
3.     NFS most wanted still at 40+ FPS
4.     And the screen recording program

So what can we say now ?

He said all round so it is a little better for video editing and the same for gaming

Well I do a lot of photo editing on my PCs.

Photo editing will probably never really be a well multi threadable task.

Also I am heavy into scientific simulations which can't (or only to a very small extend) be multithreaded.

In this area the FX 8350 stinks ass. Yes ASS. It is slower than some old i3s.

How is that for a good 'allrounder'?

Not everybody does a lot of video editing.

Gaming intel is the same but rendering they beat AMD. But for your price I would do an 8350 with a Gigabyte 990fx-ud3 and a Phanteks PH-TC12DX

i5 4670k| Asrock H81M-ITX| EVGA Nex 650g| WD Black 500Gb| H100 with SP120s| ASUS Matrix 7970 Platinum (just sold)| Patriot Venom 1600Mhz 8Gb| Bitfenix Prodigy. Build log in progress

If you read the post he said gaming and video rendering so 8350, Intel has stronger single cores, but in multi core applications 8350 will be better
