All Norwegian companies eventually become Chinese apparently.

Also, Maxthon is Chinese, and is hands down the best browser around, so maybe this will be good for Opera. Hopefully they get  unshackled from shitty Chromium core.

de pleier ikke det men..

og maxthon er ikke den beste i det store og det hele. det avhenger av personlig preferanse.

Opera was great before they just became another Chromium browser. They dumped nearly every features that made Opera great when they made the switch, many "power user" including myself just switched to a different browser at that point because the "new Opera" was "meh". (I especially hated the fact that they removed the side panels, my quick access to bookmarks, notes, email, and all that)

Vivaldi is trying to somewhat recreate what Opera should've been when they made the switch, and so far it ain't bad, but it still has a few issues before I even consider it as my main browser.

I know how bookmarks works.

It's hard to say goodbye to something you were using from the very begging. I'll probably have to do it, because opera is getting plain bad.

I doubt that switching to chrome or FFox would change much. I would avoid occasional opera crashes, that's it.

yup. I was fascinated by the bookmark thingy that showed you snapshots of the sites. And Chrome wasn't a thing yet. Only other alternative was Failfox (which ran horribly on my PC)

How the heck did they value Opera at 1.2 billion dollars...

I think Opera got a deal with Samsung as new Galaxy updates has feature called Data saver which is an Opera Service. Other than that they also have a VPN service called SurfEasy VPN.

I use Opera for LTT related evrything. Youtube, Forum, Twitch, Vessel, Twitter. IDK why but I like to keep LTT related stuff separate I have this "TheFireBird" name accounts only for LTT and steam. Firefox is my main browser though.

So Opera is still a thing...almost. I don't really see a reason to use Opera instead of Chrome, but then again I don't see any reason to use Opera at all. I'm mildly curious to see what happens to it.

why would you be using it in the first place, it's chrome with a skin.

I also use Opera, main reason i still use it as my primary browser (and pretty much the only one at this point) is due to chrome super shitty start page, you cant tell this ain't much better

Plus, better bookmark management.

I do have some gripes with it, but they are less that what Chrome (shitty bookmark management and start page) and Firefox (crash galore) has on my usage, though i have been looking at vivaldi and i might switch to it once they have a stable release.

If I recall opera have not had an update for a few months now.
Looks like this is the last nail in the coffin before I switch. Or maybe they'll make it good again?

They had an update just 2? weeks ago. They update around every 6 weeks just like Chrome. Or they have since the created "new Opera". Opera 12 has been stuck for ages.

I know a lot of people that loved Opera 12 and still use it to this day. Were I work (or volunteer) we had to block Opera 12 to get them away. It was just too awful to work with (plus some really shady stuff was possible).

Do people actually use the start page? I used it a little bit in Chrome long time ago, but continue were i left off + auto completion + bookmarks (not bookmarks so much) is way faster and better way for me to go to frequent pages.

yeah, to a website or a fully blank page AFAIK, its been so long i have used it, and i don't have it installed to check, but i know you can't change much from the pic i linked.

also my main gripe with that page is that it site appears based on usage so i can't stick a website of my preference to it, which is my main problem with it.

tried that, my shitty internet would make that shit load for like 30 minutes, the only pages i open automatically at start up is LTT and youtube because i have them pinned. otherwise i like to have my stuff clean. I hate tabs galore if i have more that 10 opens is because i'm doing something with them, otherwise there gone, i avoid as much as possible to clutter that tab bar.

Ah, shitty internet, never really had that :P
When we first got internet in 2005 vi had 5/0.5.

I also hate having alot of tabs. If it feels like too much I just hold ctrl+w for a few sec and then continue working.

True, but i can live without that, i don't use chrome on my phone either, i actually use opera there to which they have bookmark sync but if i have to use another machine i have a copy of my bookmarks in Google drive and i migrate them to whatever i'm going to use there, bit of a hassle but at least i don't have to use chrome.

Recently I tried to download something and it came bundled with Opera. That's how desperate they've gotten.

Well, bundling browsers is how you get marketshare. All the popular browsers do it or have done it in one form or another. Internet Explorer/Edge with Windows (sort of not if within the EU), Firefox in Ubuntu and probably a lot of other Linux distros. I'm sure Firefox has also been bundled with software before.

Once upon a time Chrome was bundled with every piece of software you could find and you'd have to choose advanced installation and/or uncheck the box to avoid Chrome getting installed.

Oh my lord, that's horrible. We got 25/25 early 2011 (fiber) and upgraded (for free) to 40/40 early 2012. But when I moved to university in 2012 it was only 10/10 there, felt like a nightmare. It got bumped to 100/100 late 2014, but still, those were 2 hard years. I've got 75/75 were I live now, it's okay, but Iit disappointing that they didn't offer 150/150.
