Best graphics cards to buy used? (under $100)

It's been a while since I've been closely following the prices and performance of graphics cards (built my computer two years ago, and I stopped caring about what new cards were the best and stuff).  I'm trying to help my brother upgrade his computer. He's currently using an old computer with an intel core 2 quad, 4gb of ram, and a radeon HD 5450. We're getting a new hard drive and graphics card now, and plan on upgrading the cpu/mobo/ram sometime in the future.  What are some of the best performing cards that I might find under $100 used?

750 ti

try looking for a r7 260x or a 750ti - those are one of the best price to performance graphics cards, the 750ti especially is very power efficient. But they are still a recent generation cards so it may be difficult to find a used part for less than a $100.

 

you could also check the best ones from the previous generation like a HD7750 or gtx 660.

 

always go for a 2gb model. I think 2gb is the minimum for 1080p gaming.

Check Craigslist before anything. I got a Windforce 960 for $90.

The best used for $100 is relative to whatever you can find.  I saw a gtx 680 going for $100 CAD about a week ago on kijiji.  Just keep an eye out over a period of time, sometimes people don't know what they are selling, or just want something gone fast.
