Hello!
So my computer currently has 16 gigs of ram (8x2), works like a charm, but I sometimes need more ram. So I decided to upgrade to 32 Gigs.
I have an ASrock extreme 4 motherboard, 5960x, gtx980 TI PS 1000 watts.

I bought another set of 16 gigs DDR4 (8x2) Crucial 2133, 1.2V CL15 ram. EXACT SAME THING. First time I got it, i put it in the PC, didn't work, messed around a little bit, figured I got some bad ram. Sent it back, and received the same type of ram again.
I popped it into the motherboard, Still no post. So I messed around a bit again. I switched around between all slots, but no to avail. I've tried pretty much every configuration. So then I figured lets test the ram. I put both new sticks in the board, and it booted! Checked my PC, said only 8 gigs of ram were working. I then took out one of the sticks, no boot, took out the other stick, no boot, tried moving 1 stick to different slots, no boot. Tried putting both sticks in again, no boot.

So maybe I broke the slot? I tried the old ram that I have been using for a year. Worked perfectly!

I guess my main concern is what are the chances that I got 2 different sets of ram that BOTH don't work? How the heck did I get it to boot with 2 sticks in the motherboard, but it wouldn't boot with 1? Should I try another set of this ram, or do I need to upgrade to Ram that is designed for 4 sticks?

Thanks so much for reading and any help/ suggestions! :)

have you tried the ram in any other PCs? do you know if that ram is on the motherboard QVL list?

Two options:

1) Check XMP switch on mobo, use instructionsd to see if it's ok.

2) Check if the mobo supports ddr3 only, idk if that is possible on X99 but it is on Z170, aka Skylake.

I have a 5930k, strix gtx 980 Ti, asus X99 DELUXE and a 4 x 4gb set of RAM (Kingston HyperX 2666 Mhz. WOULD recommend, gr8 RAM, had no issues w/ my pc for nearly 4 months expect for my strix 980 ti, it sux.)

I have not tried it in any other PC's, but it is the same type of ram in both. I even got the new ram to boot...ONCE, but it only took to one of the sticks.
It is on the QVL list, I just checked.
