I want to upgrade my monitor soon, preferably 23-24 inches. IPS preferabably, LED backlit seems pretty standard, 60hz refresh rate, about 4-6ms response time(i think thats good enough right?) and i don't really mind the size of the bezel, but I would like a monitor that has no logo on the front. I like'd dell's monitors because they have a thin bezel, but that bright white DELL logo just keeps me away from them. I use BenQ just cause they were the cheapest from what i saw, but this time i would like to get monitor without a front logo.

My budget is around 250 dollars.

Dell logo is in metal color. Personally it doesn't distract me, even during the day. And I am a picky guy, and I hate anything glossy on the monitor as I find it destracting, even if it's the small part on the stand or something. Great.. now you made me look at the Dell logo on my monitor. Congrads! Ok still not distracting. :)

Response time, are meaningless number. Let me explain. The measurement that is mentioned on the box or specs sheet, denotes "g-to-g" or "gray-to-gray". This mean that the way the manufacture measured the monitor panel response time, is that they used specialized tool to measure the monitor, which is great, but the colors they pick is: gray. That's right, they measure the speed a pixel changes from 1 gray color of their choosing, to another gray color (not excluding the same color (see these 1ms response time monitor).

Here is some proof. If you look at any in depth monitor review sites, such as TFTCentral (http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/), you can see that the response time mentioned doesn't reflect really the response time.

Here is the example:

Dell U2410, a 6ms response time monitor, IPS 1920x1200, vs This 1ms ViewSonic vx2739wm monitor, TN, and lower resolution of 1920x1080. Lower the resolution the faster the monitor is at sending the signal to have the pixel start to change color, as the monitor refreshes/redraws lines pixels from top to bottom. So, large panels needs to compensate this by having a faster panel, and faster circuit... this costs more, another reason why high resolution screen are costly. Ok so here is the results (from TFTCentral):

So it is important to read reviews.

I don't know any monitor without a logo, sadly.

A monitor that fits your budget is the Dell U2312HM.

Oooh! Just came to mind, you have the ASUS PA248Q, the logo is silver color, but if I am not mistaken, its not reflective.. so it's a mat silver color.. so not too bad. But what I found with my Dell logo, is that as it reflection matches the environment, so it's tend to be a dark color, blending more with the black frame during the evening. So I don't know.

hmm.... both seem to look good to me. small enough that i can probably cover the logo up with some black vinyl carbon fiber... is the Dell one IPS?

Yes. All Dell UltraSharp series are LG IPS panels.

To be specific:

U3011 -> 10-bit H-IPS panels

U2711, U2410 -> 8-bit H-IPS panels

U2713HM, U2713H, U2413 -> 8-bit AH-IPS panels

U2412, U2312, U2212 -> 6-bit eIPS panels

To go off of GoodBytes posts, I recently just bought the Dell U2312HM monitor from Newegg and took some pictures and did a review;

I love it and I don't notice any ghosting or problems with any game, definitely a great monitor. You can see the Dell logo is reflective/silver and I don't notice it at all!
