Of course iet is. If it were worse, Intel would not have launched it.

- DDR4 (practical not much faster, just when CPU Bottlenecks, but its the fuuutuuuuuure)

- M.2 with full Speed

- USB Type C

- CPU can be 0-20% faster, depending on situations. Skylake is said to be able to hold frames better (see Eurogamer tests)

- CPU Stays cooler than haswell

If the Price difference is only 25 Dollar, then fuck haswell. Skylake all the way.

Ok, So it is worth the extra US$25 and new motherboard

$25 for 6600k instead of 4690k is worth it

if you already have a Z97 motherboard, then no, buying a new motherboard will cost at least $150 and then its not worth it

if this is a new PC youre building, then yes its worth getting a 6600K+Z170 motherboard instead of a 4690k+z97 motherboard

But you have to get a Z170 Mobo which is generally more expensive and DDR4 which is also more expensive

DDR4 is basically the same price as DDR3 and you can get motherboards for cheap.

It's really not any better unless you look at the very tiny specifics. Its ever so slightly faster and it has some new power saving features but for the most part it's the same. There are differences on the chipset level but it mostly comes down to the motherboard manufacturer and what they implement.
