So I just finished watching season 1 of scrapyard wars. Awesome. I got to thinking though, what would happen if you went into microcenter with the same budget. I tried to put together items into my cart with the same budget.

I failed. The exchange rate is just terrible right now. $300 CAD is $220 US. I came close though $238 US after rebate before taxes.

How do you think this rig would do against linus' and Luke's ?

luke's 290 would obliterate that 370. linus's not so much. The cpu has 4 cores, so it should perform well. The hard drive is comically small though. I think linus's q6600 machine might edge this out in tests though

Luke did a follow up video to Scrapyard wars season one where the did something similar to what you've done. They combined the parts from both their Scrap pc's and tried to build a new system for the same budget and compared the two

I don't remember seeing that episode. interesting.

I was more looking at the original builds. I also was thinking about 1 stop shopping. There are parts in the microcenter build that are cheaper on newegg. They spent hours driving around and making phone calls. I was wondering what would happen if you just drove to microcenter.

Well one thing no one has mentioned so far, is that even though the microcenter build might not beat the scrapyard wars ones, you do have one advantage. Having bought components from a microcenter rather than used shit off of craigslist, yours will probably last longer.

Don't do drugs. Do hugs!
