Hey guys!

I find myself having a horrible setup, it sure works, but it's not a "woah"..

What can be done better? What do you guys think about it? What do you guys like about it?

Specs:

CPU: Intel Core i5-4590 3.3GHz

CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i GTX liquid cooler (AIO)

RAM: 4x4GB Crucial Ballistix Sports

GPU: MSI GTX 960 2G GAMING

PSU: Cooler Master G650M (Semi modulair)

Storage: Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD as boot, Kingston 120GB SSD for games, Seagate 3 TB HDD for games and a Seagate 2 TB HDD for Archival files.

Case: Corsair 100R

Monitor: Iiyama ProLite GB2488HSU 144Hz 1080p, Samsung S23B350T 60Hz 1080p IPS

Keyboard: Corsair Strafe RED Switches

Mouse: Logitech G303

This is her.

IMG_20160203_043715.thumb.jpg.c6274fbb38

This is where she operates. I moved it down because of the noise (I can even hear the Corsair H100i GTX pump trough my headset..)

Corsair Strafe Mechanical Keyboard (Red Switches, Red LED)

Iiyame monitor, it's my primary. 1080p, 144Hz. (TN)

Samsung secondary monitor, 1080p, 60Hz. (IPS)

Her guts.

Corsair H100i GTX Liquid Cooler (AIO), Be Quiet! 92mm FAN for rear exhaust.

IMG_20160203_041117.thumb.jpg.755b8736cf

MSI GTX 960 GAMING 2GB VRAM.

Honesly guys, buy more than 2GB VRAM, please. I find myself having alot of texture qualities turned to medium or high instead of very-high and ultra because of 2GB VRAM limitation.

IMG_20160203_044056.thumb.jpg.83d91fed67

1. Samsung 850 500GB SSD (Boot drive)

2. Kingston 120GB SSD (Game's drive)

3. Seagate 2 TB HDD (Archival drive)

4. Seagate 3 TB HDD (Game's drive)

Under the 4th drive are some cables from my non modulair power supply.

IMG_20160203_044155.thumb.jpg.92429ac487

The backside. I think all of the cables are pretty much good, except for the HDD/SSD area. This is messy because this stupid case has only 0.3-0.4cm clearance in the back. I can't fit all the cables there and I need to cram my sidepanel shut because of that cable clutter. as seen here:

IMG_20160203_044200.thumb.jpg.ae64cb8a9c

I can't cable manage this, I have to cram cables left and right to fit the sidepanel on..

And now time for the biggest complaint about this Corsair 100R case:

A fuckking 240 radiator doesn't fit.

The case supports 2x 120 mm fans ontop, but it doesn't support a 240 radiator.. The 5.25" bay is in the way, a radiator would be too wide. This case seriously supports only a 245cm wide radiator, wich most 240's aren't.

How did I fit it you may ask? Ghetto drill job.

IMG_20160203_044400.thumb.jpg.ad5f9b79ea

I had to drill a screwhole / mounthole 0.5cm to the left of the original screwholes and mountholes, it works.

Please let me know what you guys think about this setup, what's good about it, what's bad about it? What can improve?

Thanks.

Maybe a new case if you're going for aesthetics? I like the NZXT ones.

For specs, maybe a new CPU and/or GPU?

otherwise I rlly like it :)

I see you have a Corsair H100i GTX, how audible is it? Also, very nice rig (reading ur forum signature).

Thanks a lot :)))

Unless I get my ear next to the unit, can barely hear it. It's my first build, so I can't really compare it to other ones, but as far as I can tell, barely noticeable.

Chuck your 960 for an R9 380 for starters(You can get the x version but there's not much of a difference)  Then your next major upgrade needs to be an i5 6500 coupled with a Z170 board since you can now overclock non k sku sky lake cpu's with z170 boards via the CPU's BCLK.

How did u do that? I can hear it very clearly, even trough my headset. Trough Corsair Link i've set it to Quiet mode and it's running 1900RPM (pump)

How would I be able to "chuck" the 960 for a R9 380?

As in trade or sell it...

There is not much trading / selling in my area, we don't have craigslist or something similair like that ;) And the 380 doesn't improve much if anything at all for the 960.

Not sure, it's just like that. When I do use headphones (rarely) I can't really hear that.

Sorry :(

I'm personally not a fan of back lit peripherals of any kind.

If you are having issues with frame buffers it my be time to try Team Red, or shell out more cash for a 970.

You seem to have a lot of storage, I'm kind of curious as to what kind of games you are playing that can warrant a 3TB drive just for themselves, let alone a separate SSD. In any case, I would have moved it around so that the 120GB SSD was the boot with the 500GB being for the games.

You can hear the pump through your headphones? Like static or is it just that ungodly loud? If it's like static I would look into a new motherboard because that one may be on its way out.

Intel Xeon 1650 V0 (4.4GHz @1.4V), ASRock X79 Extreme6, 32GB of HyperX 1866, Sapphire Nitro+ 5700XT, Silverstone Redline (black) RL05BB-W, Crucial MX500 500GB SSD, TeamGroup GX2 512GB SSD, WD AV-25 1TB 2.5" HDD with generic Chinese 120GB SSD as cache, x2 Seagate 2TB SSHD(RAID 0) with generic Chinese 240GB SSD as cache, SeaSonic Focus Plus Gold 850, x2 Acer H236HL, Acer V277U be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4, Logitech K120, Tecknet "Gaming" mouse, Creative Inspire T2900, HyperX Cloud Flight Wireless headset, Windows 10 Pro 64 bit

It's the fans for 30%, and 70% the pump, making a "wooshing" sound like a vacuum cleaner.

Nothing wrong at all with your components, they are well matched for the tier of the build. As for the overall looks, color and space is the biggest issue. Not much you can do about the brown motherboard, but if you're comfortable doing it you should be able to paint the blue heatsinks and PCIe lanes red to match the great looking GPU and extension cables. Also, a different case probably would help the build look a little less cramped. My personal preference is cases which tuck away drives behind the motherboard tray or in a basement as it makes the rest of the build look that much cleaner.

I want to see under the desk :)

Anyways, specs wise maybe a GPU like a 390/x and like maybe a 4690k or if you have spare cash a 4790k.

You can get a case also like maybe a Phanteks Enthoo Luxe, BeQuiet! Silent Base 800 or NZXT S340 if on a bit of a budget.

Yeah, but upgrading a GPU & CPU is expensive. CPU atleast is not worth it, in my opinion. This CPU performs good and will hopefully not bottleneck any GPU upgrades.

How would I go ahead and sell the 960? And what about the new 1000 series nvidia chips comming out?

You can wait for Pascal though I would also wait for AMDs Polaris. You can then sell the 960 when they come out though depending on the price range, AMD could win or nvidia could win. Don't choose one company over another :D
