Seasonic 550W enough?

cliodude1

Cpu at stock puts out 84w. The max the gpu can push out oc, ed is 225w. Thats 309 add in 50 or so for everythi g else and you're not even at 400 your fine.

Not close at all. It's plenty.

I don't planning on OCing the GPU, so would 550w be plenty? I don't want the PSU to be under massive stress when under load thats all :P

Yeah imo it should be enough because guru3d recommended 500w : http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/his_radeon_hd_7950_review,8.html

It's plenty for oc'ing. Plenty means plenty oc'ing or not.

As I said, a 500w unit would be enough for it even if you are going to overclock. The Seasonic G 550w is a quality unit that is capable of power your system even if you were to have the 7970 or 780 instead.

Where are you people getting your numbers from? I'm quite confused as to how 550 isn't enough for a single gpu but somehow 650w psu is somehow enough for CF.

With a 3960x the total power never went above 400w.

I think some people are still confused as to how much power a computer actually needs.

Linus' build guide used a 4770K with a GTX780 with a G series 550w, so I'm pretty sure its alright.

Go with a Corsair CX600/CX750 if planning to Crossfire.

so you recommend corsair CX over seasonic G ? really ?

you can use the G 450 for your build .the G 550 is more than enough and the pc will use under 300W when gaming. however if you can find at some store a 500/550 super flower golden green, just buy it.

Like all others have said, yes 550W is enough and its not close to wattage limit at all. CrossFireX is another thing altogether.

I'd recommend going to a 600-650 watt PSU.

Seasonic X-660 is a good one.

No need--the 550w is plenty.

Thanks for the help, the Seasonic 550W it is then! Heard great things about its reputation and reliability, so I'm confident I've made the right choice (: But why is the colour brown in this picture? http://www.mwave.com.au/product/sku-aa49474-seasonic_g_series_550w_power_supply_atx_eps_80plus
