Windows Explorer Crashing - Please Help!

R3SISTOR

Hey everyone, the title says it all, my PC has been freshly formatted and everything is working great but almost once a day Explorer.exe will crash. I just click the prompt, it crashes and restarts and then I'm back to normal, it is a minimal interruption but it can't be normal. I'm using Windows 7 and it is all up to date with SP1, does anyone have any advice or suggestions? Thanks for your time!

Open the command prompts as true administrator, and execute: sfc /scannow. Hit enter. It will scan your system and repair any system file that is corrupted. Once done, restart your computer and see if it helps.

@Gecko

Windows Explorer and Internet Explorer are 2 completely different things :)

Windows Explorer is the file browser you use to navigate local files and folders stored on your HDD

Internet Explorer is the web browser, like Chrome and Firefox

@R3SiSTOR

My Guess is that he assumed you were talking about internet explorer

try Safe Mode

1. Restart your computer.

2. When the computer starts you will see your computer's hardware being listed. When you see this information start to gently tap the F8 key on your keyboard repeatedly until you are presented with the Windows 7 Advanced Boot Options screen.

3. Using the arrow keys, select the Safe Mode option you want.

4. Then press the enter key on your keyboard to boot into Windows 7 Safe Mode.

5. When Windows starts you will be at a typical logon screen. Logon to your computer and Windows 7 will enter Safe mode.

6. Do whatever tasks you require, and when you are done, reboot to go back into normal mode.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?
