Hello Guys,

i am bit in a conflict with my self about my new hardware configurations.

i have two builds in mind, my main usage would be CAD>Photogrammetry>Gaming.

The video cards are for dummy use, i am not sure if i go for gtx 960 or 970 or going with a budget card until the new Architecture is released.

Do you have any suggestions?

If you really really want the new architecture, then just buy it when it comes out and sell your old GPU. as for your builds, they are pretty good.

My ~$200 USD build:

AMD A8-7600    G. Skill Ripjaws Z @1800 CAS 8     EVGA 500w 80+ PSU    Gigabyte GAF2A68HM-DS2H Motherboard

It would be a waste for you to get two gpus if you are planning to upgrade to the new gpu series in the end. Consider a single 960 or anything around that range.

i5 4690k | MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G | Swiftech H240-X | MSI Z97s SLI Krait Edition | Corsair Vengeance Pro 8gb ( 2x4gb ) | Corsair RM750 | Samsung 850EVO 250gb SSD & WD Caviar Blue 1tb HDD | Fractal Design Define R5

Looks good, but IMO right now AMD cards in the price range of the GTX 960 and GTX 970 are better bang for buck (cards I would recommend in those price ranges and R9 380 4GB and R9 390 respectively)
Otherwise looks like a good build. You could go for a K CPU because you are going with a Z170 motherboard now too (so you can really overclock). Don't know much about that CPU cooler, but I can recommend something like a Cryorig H7 too.

You have a locked CPU, you don't need an aftermarket cooler of a Z170 motherboard. A H170 or B150 motherboard would be fine.

Don't go with SLI or Crossfire, buy the most expensive GPU you can afford, such as the R9 Nano.

I don't know about the PSUs you chose, I'd go with a PSU from XFX or Seasonic or certain ones from EVGA such as the B2, G2, GS or P2, or other PSUs from the top 2 tier (Refer to link bellow)

Replace the dual 970 with 980ti. Get H/B series motheboard or go Z series and pick unlocked CPU(with K at the end) .

thanks for the answers, the problem is that one titan x is "slower" than two gtx 970 (https://www.pugetsystems.com/labs/articles/Agisoft-PhotoScan-GPU-Acceleration-710/) in one of my main uses.

but to sum things up:

get a unlocked cpu or a non oc mainboard (unlocked cpu for higher , non oc mainboard for lower budget)

change the psu to a better one

buy one gpu and sell it when the new architecture comes out
